Dear Community Resident:

The City of Tracy is committed to maintaining quality neighborhoods and a positive community
environment. Our citizens expect us to do everything we can in this regard and we realize this
expectation is best achieved through community involvement.

The City of Tracy Code Enforcement Division has received and confirmed reports of basketball hoops in your
neighborhood encroaching the City’s public right-of-way (street and sidewalk). These encroachments violate
Section 7.04.010 of the Tracy Municipal Code.

Placement of these basketball hoops in public right-of-ways constitutes a hazard to vehicular and pedestrian
traffic and impedes on-street parking. They also interfere with the City’s street sweeping efforts and become
problematic in the maneuverability of refuse collection vehicles.

If you own a basketball hoop located in the City’s right-of-way, please relocate it onto private property. If you
believe the basketball hoop in your neighborhood has been abandoned, please contact the Code Enforcement
Division with this information by calling (209) 831-6401. The area will be re-inspected to ensure said basketball
hoops have been relocated to private property. Basketball hoops remaining either in the street or on the
sidewalk may be subject to collection by the City of Tracy as abandoned property.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. For further information, please contact the City of Tracy
Code Enforcement Division at (209) 831-6401.

Respectfully,

[Employee Name]
