HUL Field Case Study - Process
The engagement is in training and monitoring the field marketing process. The marketing activity is a below the line
activity where women who are the marketing folks, actually go and speak with potential consumers and also
demonstrate the product they are talking about – eg. Dove soap or Surf Excel and so on. They track their interactions
through a smart phone that HUL has provided them.

RSA role is to train the people for effective and efficient performance. This is not only about describing HUL as a
large FMCG company but focused on product spiel, benefits, overall engagement process from start of the day to
completion of the day. Most important elements here are using the smart phone for tracking and also the actual
conversations they have with potential customers in the field. The trainers do field trips daily with the marketers as
well.

HUL - Daily Field accompaniment and Monitoring
The trainers do field trips daily to enable the marketers to follow the process taught and also that they learn the
softer skills and do not indulge in any sales in bulk to just meet their targets and not do the marketing process that
they need to do.

The marketers and our trainers are tracked on a portal regularly. We have in-house MIS person tracking the portal
data. The managers who are managing and mentoring the field trainers look at this data and have regular calls. HUL
reviews the outcomes at their level once in a fortnight.
