covers are open. To avoid danger, disconnect the sys-
tem from the power supply before opening the covers.
Disconnect the power plug.
¹ If an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is installed in
the system, the voltage output of the UPS must also be
deenergized or the voltage output plug must be discon-
nected.
¹ If work steps must be performed using electrical

Radiation safety information

WARNING X-ray radiation!


Non-compliance can lead to illness, irreversible damage to
body cells and the genotype, severe injury and even death.

During work on the system in which radiation must be


released, the radiation protection directives and the rules for
radiation protection according to ARTD-002.731.02.. must be
complied with.
Please note:
¹ Use available radiation protection devices.
¹ Wear radiation protection clothing (lead apron).
¹ Stay as far away as possible from the radiation source.
¹ Release radiation only if necessary.
¹ Set the radiation activity as low as possible. (Low kV
and mA values, short radiation time)
¹ Release radiation for as short a time as possible.
X ¹ Checks requiring the release of radiation are identified
by the radiation warning symbol shown on the left.

Mechanical safety guidelines

CAUTION Danger of burns from hot parts or components!


Non-observance can lead to mild to moderately severe
burns, particularly on the hands.
¹ When the covers are opened, parts and components
(e.g., power supply components, heat sinks, electro-
magnetic brakes) are accessible which can reach tem-
peratures > 50 degrees Celsius during operation. To
avoid burns, you must turn off the system and allow it
to cool for at least 5 minutes before touching any parts
or components.

CAUTION Danger of injuries from mechanical parts!


Failure to adhere to these instructions can lead to mild to
moderately severe injuries, particularly to the hands.
¹ When the cover panels are opened, parts such as
plugs, threaded bolts, cut-off cable ties, and sharp
component edges are exposed. Inattention can lead to
skin injuries (crushing, scrapes, cuts), particularly to
the hands.
¹ Work steps carried out on such parts and components
must be performed with particular attention and cau-
tion.
¹ Wear work gloves if necessary.

Information on the protective conductor resistance test 0

Observe the instructions in the "Safety Rules for Installation and Repair"
(ARTD-002.731.17 ...).
The protective conductor resistance must be measured after every intervention in the sys-
tem.

However, documentation of the measured values is required only during periodic safety
checks.
If parts/components that can significantly influence the protective conductor resistance
(e.g., replacement of the power cable, replacement of the power-up module, replacement
of multi-pole connection cables which also create the protective conductor connection
between system parts (e.g., monitor cable or C-arm cable)) are replaced or if protective
conductor connections have been repaired, the protective conductor resistance must be
measured. The values must be documented and evaluated in the protective conductor
resistance protocol.

NOTE For evaluation purposes, the first measured value and the
values documented during maintenance or safety checks
must be compared to the measured values. A sudden or
unexpected increase in the measured values may indicate a
defect in the protective conductor connections - even if the
limit value of 0.2 ohms is not exceeded. (Protective conduc-
tor or contacts).

The measurement must be performed according to DIN VDE 0751, Part 1 (see ARTD Part
2). The protective conductor resistance for all touchable conductive parts must be mea-
sured during the normal operating state of the system.

Make sure that control cables or data cables between the components of the system are
not mistaken for protective conductor connections.

During the measurement, the power cable and additional connection cables which also cre-
ate the protective conductor connection between system parts (e.g. monitor cable between
the basic unit and monitor trolley) must be moved section by section to detect cable breaks.
The protective conductor resistance must not exceed 0.2 Ohms.

Prerequisites 0

• Move the lifting column up approximately 20 cm.


• Switch the system off and disconnect the power cord.
• Secure the system from unintended switch on.
• Remove the rear cover from the basic unit.

• Loosen the small cover around the vertical lifting column (Fig. 2 / p. 9), lift it up and
secure it.
• Remove the 4 mounting screws from the control panel (Fig. 3 / p. 9).

• Remove the two lower fastening screws of the top cover (Fig. 4 / p. 9).
• Remove the cover around the steering lever (Fig. 5 / p. 9).

• Remove the cover over the cable outlet of the control console flat cable
(1/Fig. 6 / p. 10).
• Disconnect connector D1.X3 (1/Fig. 7 / p. 10).
• Search for the protective conductor wire running from the control console to the
threaded bolt on the chassis and disconnect the wire (2/Fig. 7 / p. 10).

• Loosen the cover with the RS232 serial port connector (1/Fig. 8 / p. 10).

Removing the spring pin from the steering axis 0

NOTICE After removing the spring pin (1/Fig. 10 / p. 11), the position
of the steering lever to the wheel rotation is no longer fixed.
If the basic unit is moved without the spring pin installed, the
rotation position of the wheels and the rotation position of
the steering lever may be wrong.
¹ Before pushing out the spring pin, rotate the steering
lever to the 90 degree position and activate the foot
brake. The wheels and the steering lever are in a paral-
lel position.
¹ Do not move the basic unit until the new steering
assembly group is installed.

• Rotate the steering lever to the 90 degree position (counterclockwise) (Fig. 9 / p. 11).
¹ The wheels and the steering lever are in a parallel position.
• Mark the wheel positions.
• Activate the foot brake.
• Use a 3 mm punch and push out the old spring pin (1/Fig. 10 / p. 11).

• Remove the 2 fastening screws of the steering assembly group (1/Fig. 11 / p. 12).

• Carefully lift up the top cover of the basic unit (approx. 10 cm).
• Simultaneously lift up the steering assembly group(1/Fig. 12 / p. 12) until the axis
(2/Fig. 12 / p. 12) of the steering assembly group is out of the shaft(3/Fig. 12 / p. 12).
• The top cover is still lifted up. Move and rotate the steering lever and the steering
assembly group until the steering lever is removed from the breakout of top cover.
• The top cover is still lifted up. Remove the old steering assembly group from the basic
unit.

• Lift the top cover up again.


• Insert the steering lever into the hole of the top cover.
• Move the steering assembly group (1/Fig. 13 / p. 13) until it is back in the correct posi-
tion.
• Simultaneously insert the axis (2/Fig. 13 / p. 13) of the steering assembly group into the
shaft (3/Fig. 13 / p. 13).

NOTE Check that the wheels are still positioned sideways as shown
in (Fig. 9 / p. 11).

• Move the top cover downwards until it lies correctly on the basic unit.
• Apply a drop of LOCTITE 243 to the threads of the 2 fastening screws
(1/Fig. 14 / p. 13).
• Fasten the steering assembly group with the 2 screws.

• Apply a drop of LOCTITE 243 to each of the 6 fastening screws of the top cover.
• Fasten the top cover with the 4 fastening screws around the vertical lifting column
(Fig. 15 / p. 14).
• Move the small cover (self-adhesive) around the lifting column downwards, center it to
the lifting column and push it to the top cover.
• Fasten the top cover from the bottom with the 2 fastening screws (Fig. 16 / p. 14).

• Move the round cover (self-adhesive) over the steering lever, center it and push it to the
top cover (Fig. 17 / p. 14).

• Connect connector D1.X3 (flat cable from user console at D1.X3)
• Apply a drop of LOCTITE 243 to each of the 4 fastening screws (1/Fig. 18 / p. 15).
• Fasten the small rectangle cover at the cable outlet (1/Fig. 18 / p. 15).
When fastening the small rectangle cover, the flat cable and protective conductor wire
must not lie on top of each other.
The flat cable runs straight to connector D1.X3; the protective conductor wire runs side-
ways to the clamping bolt.
• Fasten the 2 protective conductor wires (one wire from the control console and the sec-
ond wire from the rear cover) at the clamping bolt (2/Fig. 7 / p. 10).

• Fasten the cover with the serial port connector on the basic unit (1/Fig. 19 / p. 15).

Drilling the new hole in the axis of the steering assembly group 0

NOTE Before drilling the 4 mm hole into the axis of the steering
assembly group, perform the following checks:
The steering assembly group must be installed and fastened.
The top cover must be fastened on the basic unit with all 6
screws.
The steering lever of the steering assembly group must be
rotated parallel to the wheel positions.

• Rotate the steering lever to the correct position (parallel to the wheel position)
(Fig. 9 / p. 11).

NOTE Before drilling the hole, lay a cloth around the bottom of the
shaft to collect the drill chips.
Hold the drill machine centered to the 2 existing holes of the
shaft.
First use a 4 mm drill and drill only approx. 1 mm deep into
the axis. Use the existing holes on both sides of the shaft as a
guide. Then use a smaller drill of 3 mm diameter and drill
from both sides approx. 10 mm deep. Use the 4 mm drill
again and drill the complete 4 mm hole from one side through
the axis.

• Lay a cloth around the bottom of the shaft to collect the drill chips.
• Use the existing holes on both sides of the shaft as a guide.
• Use a 4 mm drill and electrical drill machine and drill approximately 1 mm deep from
both sides into the axis of the steering assembly group.
• Mark a distance of approx. 10 mm at the 3 mm drill (Fig. 21 / p. 16).
• Use the 3 mm drill and drill a hole of approx. 10 mm length from both sides. The previ-
ous drilled hole of 1 mm depth will center the 3 mm drill to the holes.

• Use the 4 mm drill again and drill the complete 4 mm hole from one side through the
axis.
• Remove the cloth with the drill chips.

Inserting the new spring pin into the 4 mm drill hole 0

NOTE Do not use the old spring pin! Use a new spring pin, delivered
with the kit.

• Hold the new spring pin as shown in (Fig. 22 / p. 17).
• Push it into the 4 mm drill hole.
¹ The spring pin is completely in the shaft and axis.

Checking the steering 0

• Release the foot brake.


• Rotate the steering lever to 0 degrees and move the basic unit.
¹ Both wheels must be parallel.
¹ The basic unit can be moved in the direction of the wheels.
• Rotate the steering lever to 90 degrees (counterclockwise) and move the basic unit
sideways.
¹ The basic unit can be moved sideways.
• Rotate the steering lever to -90 degrees (clockwise) and move the basic unit sideways.
¹ The basic unit can be moved sideways.

• Rotate the steering lever back to the 0 degree position.

NOTE If the following checks show further problems with the steer-
ing of the system (wheels not in parallel position, chain has
too much play, etc.), check and adjust the chain tension.
The complete steering chain is built of 3 short chain pieces,
connected together with 3 chain tensioners.
The chain tensioners can be loosened or tightened by rotat-
ing the middle hexagonal bolt. First open the clamping nuts.
By loosening/tightening one of the side-mounted chain ten-
sioners, the parallelism of one wheel to the steering lever can
be adjusted.
By loosening/tightening the chain tensioner at the front of
the wheels, the parallelism of the wheels can be adjusted.
By loosening/tightening all three chain tensioners in the
same way, the chain tension can be adjusted.
Attach a spring scale to the chain, shown in (2/Fig. 23 / p. 18).
The play should be 9 mm ± 2 mm when pulling outwards from
the spring scale with a force of 10 Nm.

Final work steps and checks 0

• Fasten all removed protective conductor wires.


• Install all covers.
• Perform a protective conductor resistance test.
¹ The protective conductor resistance must not exceed 0.2 Ohms.
• Connect the monitor trolley and the basic unit. Insert the power plug in the wall socket.
