Based on the topic of artivism and after the exercise, I would reference Latino and Asian

artists that were previously talked about within their world languages classes. Along with Art
activists like Ai wei wei, Yayoi kusama, Judy Baca and Jose Guadalupe Posada would be talked
about during class. All artists described are artists that advocated for change during different
artistic movements and ties into printmaking and public art.Students will be taught on how to do
two printmaking techniques known as mono printing and stamping. Along with learning new
techniques and emphasizing on artivism within minorities, students will create up to 5 ideal
finalized copies; one for the upcoming art show and the remaining 4 towards other community
centers and public spaces that allow prints.

Materials:
• Pencil
• Styrofoam Plate
• Scissors
• Construction Paper (White & Color)
• Paint Brushes (old)
• Glue
• Paint
• Spray bottle of water
• Hairdryer

Creating Monoprint sheet:

1. Find a clean desk space (in classroom) and spray very little water on the desk
2. Apply paint on the desk and create a pattern or gradience form one color to another
(make sure there isn’t any blank spots) – only apply it based on the size of the piece of
construction paper
3. Slowly place the piece of white construction paper from side to side
4. Gently pat on the paper to let the paint sink into the sheet (2-3) minutes
5. Slowly peel out the paper away from the desk to see the result
6. Add some minor touches (a pop of color)
7. Let the sheet dry , grab the hair dryer and set it to low setting
Creating Stamp:
1. Grab a styrofoam plate and draw the following design for artivism project (make sure the
lines are fully pronounced so the print transfer process would be easier)
2. Cut out your design and leave some space on the edges so it will be easier to grab
Stamping:
1. Use stamp you made, and apply paint equally from one side to another
2. Press the stamp to a piece of colored construction paper (make sure the stamp is visible!)
3. Peel out the stamp, and check if all the details are shown from your stamp
4. If not, keep stamping and apply a paint either more or less until you achieved a clean
print

After finishing your ideal stamps, cut and paste the following stamp towards the mono print,
remember only 5 clean prints are required for the project but they are welcome to create a few
more
