I am privileged to write this letter of recommendation in support for my student, Brian Arandia. I have
known Brian and his family for many years. However, this year, I feel very fortunate to have Brian as a
student in my Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition class at Merced High School.
Over the years I have witnessed Brian grow tremendously both academically and personally. It is with
much pleasure and sincerity that I write this letter on his behalf.

In my experiences with him, Brian has proven to be a driven and ambitious young man. Academically, he
has excelled in all of his classes and last semester he earned an impressive 4.6 GPA! He is a dedicated
student and an independent worker. Yet, he is also very outgoing and interacts with other students in a
positive manner. He always does his best at any task put before him. Brian has been enrolled in several
Advanced Placement and Honors classes and has still maintained his exceptional academic record. In
addition, Brian has been actively involved in sports and extra-curricular activities on and off campus. He
has been a valuable member of our basketball team, as well as a member of both Kiwins and the
Associated Premedical Students organization. Brian has been extremely successful at balancing his
academics, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement. He has volunteered hundreds of
hours within our community, specifically at Mercy Hospital. For as long as I’ve known him, Brian has
been an individual of great character. He displays exemplary behavior and possesses outstanding
personal qualities. These strong characteristics coupled with Brian’s academic achievement, work ethic,
and athletic skills undoubtedly account for his continued success.

I recommend Brian with absolute confidence. I have no doubt that Brian will continue to rise to any
challenge that he faces in college and beyond. Overall, his excellent qualities will remain with him and
continue to make him successful in all of his future endeavors. It has sincerely been a pleasure for me to
know Brian and watch him excel throughout the years. I highly and enthusiastically recommend him.
