Introduction
This document explains the steps involved in Configuring the Nordic
readers.

There are 2 types of Nordic Hubs.

1. Nordic Hub with RS 485
2. Nordic Hub with POE

Nordic reader with RS485 :

Hardware requirements:

- USB to 4 PORT devices (ST Lab)

- Hub
- RS485 BOX
- Game Readers
- Redemption/Coin interface PCB
- Reader antenna with RJ45 connector
- 12 Volt adapter

Setup:

1. Install ST Lab device in server computer and make sure 4 ports are
created under device manager.

2. Login to management studio.

3. Site setup -> configuration-> server-> Reader type -> Color ISM/2
Line.

4. Games-> Hubs> Enter the appropriate port number, Baud rate,

Address (0-99) and frequency (0-99) -> Save.

5. Make sure Parafait server is not running and press configure button.

Press ‘Yes’ to configure the hub. You will get the message “Configuration
completed successfully”

Reader configuration:

Connect configuration PCB to redemption /Coin board using FRC cable and
configure the Hub Id (address), Mac Address (0-99) and Frequency in a
reader.

Run the Parafait Primary server. You can see the communication log with
status ‘OK’.

Trouble shooting:

1. Hub is not working:

- Shut down particular HUB and check whether you can configure
the hub using configure option in hub setup.

- If you get error as ‘Unable to open comport’

 Check whether ST Lab device is connected properly and
additional ports are visible under device manager.
 Check whether correct port number is entered in Hub setup.
- If you get error as “Time out occurred. Configuration failed”
 Check serial cable is removed from St Lab device or RS485
device.
 Check whether the RS 485 device and Hub is powered ON.
 Reconnect the CAT5 cable and check whether there is a loose
contact.
 Check whether Hub antenna is connected properly.

2. Readers are not communicating:

 Check the Mac address, frequency and hub address in a reader
configuration whether it is entered correctly as configured in
management studio machine setup.
 Check the reader antenna whether is connected properly and
placed in a proper position.

3. Hub receive failed (Weak communication):

 There is a chance of hub address interchange if port number is
interchanged in hub setup of management studio. So, make
sure the readers are communicating with nearby hub. If
required interchange the port number in hub setup and
reconfigure the hub.
 Make sure same Mac address in not given in multiple readers.

Nordic reader with POE:

Hardware requirements:
- POE device.
- Hub
- LAN switch
- 12 Volt adaptor
- CAT 5 cable
- Game readers
- Interface board
- Server computer

Setup:

1. Install Wiznet config Tool 107 in server computer.

2. Make sure hardware connections are done as shown in the
above image.
3. Open Wiznet Config Tool and click on Search button.

You can see the Mac address of POE device.

4. Click on Mac address and set below parameters.

Network:
Device IP address
Subnet mask
Gateway
DNS Server
Operation mode – TCP server

Click on settings to save the configurations.

5. Login to management studio

6. Site setup -> configuration-> server-> Reader type -> Color ISM/2
Line.

7. Gemes -> Hubs -> Create the hubs as shown in below image.

8. Make sure Parafait server is not running and press configure

button.

Press ‘Yes’ to configure the hub. You will get the message “Configuration
completed successfully”

Reader configuration:

Connect configuration PCB game reader using FRC cable and configure the
Hub Id (address), Mac Address (0-99) and Frequency in a reader.

Run the Parafait Primary server. You can see the communication log with
status ‘OK’.

Trouble shooting:

1. Hub is not working:

Step 1: Login to wiznet config tool and search for POE Mac address.
Check whether you can see the Mac address of POE device.
If No, please check the LAN connectivity.
If yes, Go to next step.

Step 2: Shut down particular hub and check whether you are able to
configure the hub using configure option in hub setup.
- If you get an error as “unable to find access point with this Mac
Address. Please try again”-
 Check the connectivity of hub to the POE device.
 Check whether hub LED is glowing.

- If you get an error as “Receive FAILED: Socket Timeout” –

 Check whether both the LEDs in the POE device is blinking.
 Reconnect the RJ45 cable from the POE device.

2. Readers are not communicating:

 Check the Mac address, frequency and hub address in a reader
configuration whether it is entered correctly as configured in
management studio machine setup.

3. Weak communication:
 Disable the machines in management studio, machine setup
which are not in use.
 Check the hub position and make sure it is fixed in a proper
location.
 Check the hub antenna whether it is weak. If required, replace
the antenna.
