Pharmacology The fruit and seed mother tincture were safe up to dose
level of 0.1 ml /100 g. b.w. in mice and 0.15 ml /100 g
.b.w. in rats, respectively. The drug does not show anti-
inflammatory action, fall in blood pressure & analgesic
activities but shows antipyretic effect.

2. Cochlearia Part used: Root.

TLC studies:
Physico-chemical (A) chloroform:methanol (9:1 v/v) as mobile phase.
(i) Under U.V.light two spots appear at Rf 0.54(greenish)
and 0.97(blue). (ii) On spraying with antimony tri
chloride in chloroform reagent four spots appear at Rf
0.39( pink), 0.51( violet), 0.67(violet),and 0.91(pink).
(B) n-butanol:acetic acid:n propanol:water(3:1:!:1 v/v) as
mobile phase.(i) On spraying with ferric cyanide
(potassium) ferric chloride reagent five blue spots appear
at Rf 0.50, 0.65, 0.76, 0.85 and 0.91.
Pharmacology The present study demonstrates that Cochlearia
armoracia Q is safe up to dose level of 0.15 ml/100g.b.w.
in mice and has no atrophic/ degenerative changes in any
endocrine glands. The drug does not show any
antiinflammatory, anti-pyretic, anti-convulsant, C.N.S.
activity and fall in blood pressure but shows analgesic
effect.

3. Pharmacognosy Part used: Dried bark.

4. . Gymnema Pharmacognosy Part used: Leaf
sylvestre Lamina: stomata paracytic occasionally anomocytic, only
on lower surface; trichomes numerous, multicellular,

and 0.1 ml /100 g .b.w. in rats. G. sylvestre Q possess
mild hypoglycemic activity.

5. Tylophora Pharmacognosy Part used: Leaf.

g.b.w. in mice but did not possess C.N.S. activity,
behavioural effect, respiratory and heart rate at the dose
level of 1.0 ml/100 g.b.w. in mice and also did not
possess any anti-fertility effect.
