Good morning to the respected principal, erudite teachers and my fellow friends,

I am highly honoured to deliver this farewell speech for Mr James. We are all here to bid farewell
to our exceptional English teacher and a mentor who retired from active service. You have spent
35 years teaching at our school and how the time flies.
It gives me great pleasure to say our dear teacher had contributed his dedication to a number of
previous schools. He has taught 4 secondary schools before serving at our school until his
retirement today. He has imparted knowledge onto us and taught us to be future leaders. Thus, I
would like to thank him for all his efforts and hard work. Indeed, we all need to express our sincerest
gratitude to him for all his uncommon contributions to realizing the educational programmes and
development of the school. Among his achievements is he managed to obtain 100% passes for
the English Language for all his classes and he was awarded the Innovative Teacher Award during
our Teacher’s day celebration this year.
The 35 years he had spent imparting the right skills and knowledge onto the students, seems like
it was yesterday he started his teaching career. His contribution to the school has been vast. For
example, he was the Head of the English panel and lead the panel to various achievements such
as producing numbers of A candidates for SPM examination. Throughout his stay in the school,
he was an outstanding teacher advisor for the debating team that we won the National level debate
competition last year, the first for our school’s history. Plus, his involvements in many charity events
as organiser has made him known among many teachers and students not just here in our school
but also throughout the state. His support for the underprivileged students was evident with the
“No One Left Behind” programme which provides free meals during recess thanks to the generous
contributions of donors. I am glad to say, our teacher leaving is a recipient of several awards both
locally and internationally for his hard work and service to humanity.

As Mr James reaches his retirement, I am really confident that he has his plans after this well
planned. I remembered one of his plans which he always discloses with the rest of us is to travel
the world and see how other people live their lives and to share his experience in his travel blog.
Another plan of his that I know is to cultivate his farm on his land and be a successful farmer
producing local fruits. I am sure that the rest of us are looking forward to see your plans come to
fruition.

In describing my opinion of the teacher, we celebrate today, I have no doubt on my mind to say
that he is an achiever, open-minded, generous, knowledgeable, modest, courageous, responsible
and highly respected teacher. I remembered one of the good memories I had with Mr James when
we were faced with some challenges as we began the “No One Left Behind” project, he stood with
us and supported us with all the parties involved. With his vast wealth of experience in making
quick decisions in a very hostile situation, which he demonstrated during the difficult time, we were
able to overcome if not all, some of the difficulties. Thank you for making learning easier and
enjoyable.

Indeed, your exceptional qualities have inspired us in so many ways. This, we will all remember
you for, and the sweet memories that we had together will remain in our hearts forever.

Thank you for teaching your subjects with a passion. As you join the seniors of this great country,
I wish you well for the future and I pray for your good health. And may you find life after retirement
a happy moment with lot of beautiful memories. I also pray that the knowledge and skills we have
gained from you are used well in building a greater nation and a healthy place for all to live.On
behalf of the school, I wish you good luck and all the best for the rest of your life as you bow out
after spending meritorious 35 years teaching what you know how to do best.

Thank you.
