3 Installation
Planning of quantity and location of call points shall be done according to the local codes
and regulations and in accordance to the planning consultant's requirements.

3.1 Pre-Installation Planning

3.1.1 Capacity Planning
Ensure that the total number of initiating devices (call points, switches, call point, etc.)
does not exceed the maximum allowed per detection zone, floor area, or other
limitations as specified by the applicable standards and regulations.

EN 54 EN 54 Requirement
In some countries local interpretation of EN 54 requires the installation of call
points in a dedicated zone.

3.1.2 Cabling Planning

The call point is connected to the control panel via a two-wire connection (the control
panel's IDC loop).
Note
i Notify the operator or the security personnel that the system will be temporary
disconnected before adding call points to the control panel.

3.2 Installation
3.2.1 Control Panel Configuration (TSA-1000 / TSA-1000X Only)
Configure the input zone as type d (detector zone) for a detector and manual alarm call
point zone if local codes and regulations allow for this.
Configure the input zone as type p (push button input) for a dedicated TPB-10R zone.
Configure the input zone as type p (push button input) for a dedicated TPB-10Y input.
Include the TPB-10Y input in the control panel's extinguishing matrix

Configure the input zone as type h or H (extinguishing hold input), for a dedicated
extinguishing hold, as required.
Configure the input zone as type A (extinguishing abort input) for a dedicated abort
input.
Please refer to the TSA-1000 / TSA-1000X technical manual for a detailed description of
programming and configuration.
3.2.2 Location
The TPB-10 is designed to protect indoor fire risk areas, except environments where
smoke, steam, dust, or corrosive gasses are present under normal conditions.
Observe NFPA 72 guidelines and local fire codes when installing the TPB-10.

UL UL Requirement
Smoke call points are not to be used with call point guards unless the
combination has been evaluated and found suitable for that purpose.

3.2.3 Connecting to the Control Panel’s Input Line

Connect the IDC to the call point.

Figure 1 Connection diagram

All wiring must conform to applicable local codes, ordinances and regulations.
Note
i Measure the wiring to ensure there are no shorts before connecting the wiring
to the control panel.
Connecting or adding call points to the control panel shall be done when all
power to the control power (AC and batteries) is disconnected.

3.3 Post-Installation
Test the push button to ensure that it operates properly and verify that it is included in
the appropriate matrices as specified by the planning consultant.
