The tto sportsday

We had the fourteenth of April the TTO sportsday, I gonna tell something about what we
did and where was the sportsday all about.

Information about the sportsday.

The sportsday was at Sportspark the Korze. That’s a sportpark in Veldhoven.

We had the sportsday because we are a TTO class. All the regular havo and vwo classes don’t had the
sportsday. Because only TTO classes had the sportsday, it was all about English sports and games.

The sports and games we did.

We did three sports: Rugby, cricket and the highland games.

Rugby.
We started with rugby, I think I liked that the most. First we did a bit of a warming up, than we
started the first game. There was one person in the middle of the field. The others had to run across
the field from one line to another. The goal of the person in the middle was to tackle the persons
who were running. If you got tackled you had to help the person in the middle. And so more and
more people came in the middle, and so it became for the runners very difficult. (I got tackled one of
the first cause Amber focused on me.) The second game, there were four groups. Every group had to
stand in a corner, in the middle of the field there were laying balls. The goal of this game was to get
as many balls as possible. One person had to run to the middle of the field and take one ball at a
time. When there were no more balls in the middle, you had to steal balls from the other groups.
You couldn’t defeant (so that means that if there came a group to steal your balls you couldn’t do
anything about it). After a few minuts the ‘’teacher’’ gave a twist on the game. First it was all about
taking the ball land running back as fast as possible. But now if you had the ball, you also could throw
it back. If your group mates caught the ball it was way faster than running back all the way! The last
game which I liked the most, we had to make groups. The teacher throwed the ball (one group at the
time) away. One of your team mates (you first had to divided who) had to take the bal land bring it
back to the teacher without getting caught by the others.

Further information Rugby.

In rugby there are two team of fifteen players. At the end of the game, the team with the most
points wins the game! You can score a point by running with the ball in your hand over the line, and
push to ball down in the goal area. But your opponents are allowed to counter you and steal the ball
from you. It isn’t a very quiet game in fact, the opposite! You just can push and tackle your
opponents, with the goal to get the ball, or to get the best field position! There is one really
important rule: forward passing in not allowed! You can only pass the ball backwords. So that’s why
running fast and avoiding attacks is really important.
Cricket.
The second game we did is cricket, I did like the game but I don’t understand every single part so it is
probably also a bit hard to explain. We started with doing the warming up. After that, we did some
throw and catch games. We started with a tennisball, you had to throw and catch the ball (together
with your partner as many as possible. After the tennisball, we had a ball and some paws. And we
had to aimd. You got a point if a paw had fallen over. After that, we started hitting the ball with the
help of a bat. We were divided into two groups. One person had to stand behind the line, the others
(take turns) had to throw the ball to the bat and the person behind the line had to hid it. There was
one other person who went to get the balls. After a few balls, you had to switch from the person who
was hitting and getting the balls. Then we started doing the last game, we started playing cricket. The
teacher had already made groups, so one group against the other. We just did the game, I explain
here beneath how it worked.

Further information Cricket.

Cricket is a ball sport where points are scored by walking back and forth over the cricket pitch. It is a
team sport in which one team stands in the field (one player of that team is trowing at the persons
who are hitting), and the other team hits. When you hit the ball you have to run, one time back and
forth is one point (also called a wicket). You can run until the maximum wickets is reached (you
decided before the match started), or when one of the persons in the field is back with the ball and
‘’burned” it. When the maximum wickets is reached, the teams switch from subject.
Highland games.
The last ‘’sport’’ we did were the highland games. We were divided in five groups. There were a few
typical English games and we al did them al 2 times. After a few minutes we had to switch from
subject. From every subject you could get some points, at the end of the games the team with the
most points wins! This were the five games: The first game was ‘’chopping wood’’. I was a bit
impressed when I heard that we were going to do that. Cause I never tought that that was something
typical English. We did this with a saw everyone had to do a piece one by one. The second game was
‘’tug of war’’ There were two groups and we both had to pull the rope is hart as possible. This was so
funny! Our team (not very nice from us I know) pulled very hard for like three second. Than we count
till three, and we let the rope fell down! But the other group was also pulling very hard and when we
dropped the rope they ofcourse all fell on the ground! We had to do the tug of war four times cause
you had two teams. The third game we did was also very funny! You had to throw a wooden pole as
you could. It was very heavy so a bit difficult! But it was really nice! When you throwed the pole you
had to look how far it came. (There was laying a tape messure were you could messure it.) When I
throwed it, it doesn’t came that far. But it can always be more worse! Isa throwed something like 10
cm! The last game was also with throwing, but not with wooden pole. But with a hammer! It was the
same with messuring and it also was very funny! I really enjoyed the Highland games, but when we
did the games for the second time, it went a bit boring. What was really nice about the games, was
that it was support with music and the teachers were wearing some typical clothes so that was nice!
My meaning about the tto sportsday.
I really enjoyed the sportsday and it was very active and nice! Rugby I liked the most as I said before.
I like a bit ruwth sports and tackeling and pushing people so rugby is actually a really good sport for
me! I didn’t liked Cricket very much, he explained not very clear and a bit boring. It was a bit like
softball and peanut ball and I also don’t like that very much so yeah. The highland games were also
very nice and funny! I think it was very nice that we could get some free drinks cause after a few
hours you were really thirsty! So eventually I really liked the sportsday and it was very much fun!

I look forward to participate the TTO sportsday next year.
