ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

This study has been the product of the countless efforts of the researchers and

also the people who, in one way or another, gave their help which made this study a

material to be read. Thus, the researchers would like to express their heartfelt gratitude

and appreciation to the following who made this study possible:

To Engr. Guilbert Nicanor A. Atillo, IT Instructor, who gave invaluable comments

and suggestions to improve our understanding, to guide us in the process and to enhance

this study.

To our beloved parents and guardians, who in part, gave their support spiritually,

morally, and financially, thus making us strong in facing all the struggles and challenges

of this study and who believe in us that we, the researchers, can do this.

And above all, to our Almighty Father, for giving the researchers His unconditional

love and a life to see the beauty and gift of His creation, and for being with us through it

all.

ABSTRACT

A water meter is a device used to measure the volume of water consumed by

either a residential or a commercial establishment. Manual reading of the water meter is

a tedious job and throughout the years this method tends to show noticeable

disadvantages.

This study aims to develop an automatic water meter reading system that will

enhance the water meter data collection by utilizing wireless technology using Web-based

and an android phone for more accurate and advance transaction.

It consists of the hardware and the software design. The hardware involves the

tablet, an android phone, and a desktop or a laptop. While the software is developed in

order to receive and to store data into the database and output graphically. Test will be

used to conduct and to verify if the readings from the design are comparable to the actual

volume measured from the line meter.

With thorough study, research and survey, the implementation of the application

gathered positive feedbacks from various individuals. As an effect, it enables the meter

reader to easy read the line meter of water consumer and finish the task accurately and

fast. It is easier to use the application for water consumers to check their bills anytime at

their ease. To sum up, electronic water meter with remote monitoring and billing system

offers more convenience than using the traditional way process of billing system.
