To Captain Antonio,

I am writing this letter as directed by Captain Nava. I want to thank you first, Captain Antonio,
for prioritizing my wedding and extending all the help I needed for this once in a lifetime occasion. This
gratitude will last for a lifetime. Captain Nava directed me to make an apology regarding the email that
you sent concerning my request to be part of the crew who will be coming home last February. I clearly
remembered that we sent an email ahead of time to inform the management of the said arrangement. A
final list was sent three days and my name was still not there wherein my wedding is only a few days
away. Since we did not get the response we were hoping for, we sent another email to show the urgency
of the matter. It was only till the last minute when I can freely breathe because I can come home and
attend my wedding.

I visited the office to fix some affairs. This is when Captain Nava asked me to explain and
apologize regarding the email you sent him quoting the line "There is nothing more important than a
groomsman attending his own wedding". He said that he was offended. For me, you wrote this line in
good faith adding a human touch to a formal request. A skill we are all taught in school on how to create
letter requests. However, Captain Nava was offended and asked us to apologize .
He even
threatened me that I can no longer work in this company if I would
not be writing an explanation and a formal apology. He also said not to
inform the company that I need to write an apology. This, for me, makes it clear that we have not broken
any company rules but instead is an intentional action for his own egoistic nature.

I have worked my sweat and blood, sacrificed and remained loyal to Magsaysay Shipping Lines
for seven years. I only asked one favor for a special day of my life. Thank you Captain Antonio and the
rest of management for making it possible. However, the pettiness and unprofessionalism that Captain
Nava showed for a simple human touch done in good faith in your email is something I cannot tolerate. I
am still writing this letter to get your guidance and wisdom on this matter and I am sending a copy to the
management to show that one person can stand up to tyranny and oppression. We are all under the
company’s code of conduct and threatening an employee’s job security, because of petty reasons, like
what Captain Nava did, is simply unnecessary, rude and unprofessional.

I hope to get your response in this matter Captain Antonio, again many thanks to all that you did
for me.

Thank you and God bless!
