LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 9

I.OBJECTIVES

At the end of 50-minute discussion and with the use of visual aids, 100% of the students should be able to do the
following with 75% success:

a. Differentiate Active and Passive voice;


b. Identify the voice of the verbs in each sentence; and
c. Share ideas in class discussion and group activities.

B. Motivation

The teacher will provide a word maze and the students should encircle the 6 hidden words, horizontally, vertically,
and diagonally.

C. Development of the lesson

The teacher will present the Active and the Passive voice of the verb.

Voice - The quality of a verb that shows whether the subject is the doer or the receiver of the action.

Active voice - used to indicate that the subject of the sentence is the doer of the action.

Example:

 Nicah wrote the winning essay.


 Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone.
 The chef prepared a delicious meal.

Passive voice - used to indicate that the subject of the sentence is the receiver of the action.

Example:

 The winning essay was written by Nicah.


 The telephone was invented by Alexander Grahambell.
 A delicious meal was prepared by the chef

D. Generalization

A verb that has a direct object and the subject is the doer of the action the sentence is in the active voice. If the
subjects is acted upon the verb is in the passive voice.

E. Enrichment Activity

Identify the voice of the verb in each sentence.

1. Raul presented an interesting report.


2. Baseball was played by Joseph.
3. Martin removed the old paint.
4. The national budget was approved by the congress.
5. She cooked the breakfast.
IV. EVALUATION

Write A in the blank before the number if the sentence is in the active voice and P if the sentence is passive voice.

1. The mother carried the baby.


2. The pretzels were brought by Leroy.
3. Father repaired the old chair.
4. The famous underground river was explored by Sam.
5. He invented a breathing device for firefighters.
6. A breathing device for firefighters was invented by him.
7. Sam explored the famous underground river.
8. An old chair was repaired by father.
9. Leroy brought the pretzels.
10. The baby was carried by the mother.

V. ASSIGNMENT

Create 5 sentences for active voice and another 5 sentences for passive voice.
