HOW DOES THIS GENERAL FOUNDATION OF EDUCATION RELATES TO ENGLISH
LANGUAGE TEACHING

Answer the following questions based your own experience and your own knowledge.

1. Meaning of English language education;

The shape of the best English was implicitly designed to create and prepare for a happy and moral
life, then it hardly makes sense to force it on every student. I must reflect on the aims of education
to be sure that they are morally justified. A value that supports this belief is a hearty respect for all
forms of honest and necessary teaching-learning activities. Instead of converting all people into
members of the educational elite, we might do better to make the lives of every students satisfying.

2. Aims of English language education;

As a teacher today is encouraged to have a learning objective for every lesson. Often these
objectives are simply drawn from a textbook or list of “standards.” Teachers are rarely asked to
relate their objectives to goals of the learning outcomes. How should I think about such an
objective? Ideally, I should think first how the objective fits with the student goals outcomes; then
I should do a task analysis and identify the skills required to achieve the objective. One relevant
of study English is to achieve literacy, in this case, English literacy, and the goal is to understand
functions. But we have to remember that teacher’s job is not only to teach children what the
functions but also to do it in such a way that understand morals are advanced.

3. English language curriculum model;

The present organization of curriculum around the disciplines is retained, what goals should
English teachers establish to contribute to aims such as the following: to educate students who can
communicate effectively; who work well as members of social community; who are flexible in the
face of change; who are skilled in analysis and conceptualization.

4. English language method of teaching;

Concerning English teaching methods, I believe that a variety of approaches makes up the
most successful practice, it assists to maintain the whole attention of the students present in class,
it encourages them and offers an attractive atmosphere in the classroom activities. English teaching
method is the process by which the raw about a learning need is interpreted in order to produce an
integrated series of teaching-learning experiences, whose lead the learners to a particular state of
knowledge. In practical, the teachers need to design a syllabus, to select, adapt or write material in
accordance with the syllabus, to develop a methodology for teaching those materials and to
establish evaluation procedures by which progress towards the specified goals will be measured.

5. English language examination model;

The most important advantage to using learner evaluation is their ability to provide
applicable feedback to teachers: I can use evaluation results to identify strengths and weaknesses
and make changes to their teaching methods. I should “let individual students bring their outside
interests and knowledge into the classroom through cross-curricular work.”
6. The role of teachers in English language education;
Two constructs that represent the role of a teacher:
Construct The role of teacher
Coach I give my students guidelines for assignments so students know how they
will be graded (grading rules, charts, rubrics, etc.)
My students and I have to work hard to do well in the classroom activities.

Motivator I have my students apply what they are learning to real-life situations.
I encourage my students to share their ideas or opinions about what they
are learning in classroom activities.

Above all, the qualified teacher is the key of students’ progress. Teachers must master the
standards of competence being a professional teacher. Certification was seen as evidence that
teachers are experts in their field. Teachers who have been trained will be able to provide a flexible
learning environment and stimulate students the best way to study. Students want teachers who
are close to them. The professional activities are expected to keep me in touch to my students.

7. The role of students in English language education;

Students as innovative learners, analytic learners;

Innovative learners. The students look for personal meaning while learning, they draw on their
values while learning, enjoy social interaction, cooperative and they want to make the world a
better place.
Analytic learners. The students want to develop intellectually while learning, draw on facts
while learning, patient and reflective and they want to know “important things" and to add to the
world's knowledge

8. The role of schools in English language education;

In the Makassar today, critics have charged the school of “setiap anak harus sekolah” it is
the same meaning to No Child Left Behind act. Do schools honestly want to improve the
educational opportunities of poor? or do they really want to leave many children behind? It may
be said that NCLB sincerely want to improve the conditions of public schooling for all children.
Positive public school environment is a positive social interaction between teachers and
students and among students. A school environment that is relates to the feeling that permeates a
classroom. Further, successful classroom environment is friendly and warm. School environment
needs to be built in such a way that can make students feel comfortable. Learning strategies of play
can be an alternative learning being able to make students feel happy.

9. The role of school principal in English language education;

As a decision maker, the role of school principal is a manager. She worked as a
management, introducing such phrases as “conflict resolution,” and “the task of leadership.”
Formally defined, the principles of management are the activities that the school principle are
planning, organizing, and controlling the operations of the basic elements of teachers, and money,
providing direction and coordination, and giving leadership to human efforts, so as to achieve the
vision and mission of the school objectives.

Such as an educational policymaker at level of school, the school principal must monitor
and evaluate of the four competencies of the teachers. It should be done strictly and periodically
because it would ensure that the aim of teacher certification, to increase the quality of teachers and
education in general, would be satisfied.

10. The role of communities in English language education;

Friends and a sense of belonging to a group represent crucial issues. Learners as wavering
between independence and a need for security. They orientate themselves from family to other
social groups. Learners are detaching from the value system of their family. Subsequently, social
norms that are set by their peers are becoming very important.

11. The change of education in English language education;

How do cope with the change?
Learners detach themselves from their family. However, this emancipation does not mean
that emotional connections are broken. They are just being changed. Learners are exposed to the
groups which have unique traits, norms, cultures or value systems. However, the chances of peer
pressure having adverse effects are always much greater.

What is attitude to change?

These days, technology at school has an enormous impact on change all aspects of learners’
life which simply cannot be ignored. The access to information puts learners more in control of
their lives. While many young learners are exposed to computers and have mastered the
technology. Today’s learner is used to exploratory learning. This level of independence needs to
be extended to activities in the language-learning classroom. I should encourage discovery learning
through technology usage in the lessons. Email, chat, instant messaging, blogs and social networks
provide the students with opportunities to speak their minds in the language classroom activities.
