Workshop on “Modeling the simplified Sri Lankan

power system network and study its performance for

different loading conditions”
Organized by IEEE Student branch of the University of Peradeniya together with Electrical and
Electronic Engineering Student society

Synopsis:
A talk on the facilities of the Integrated Power System Analysis (IPSA) tool will be delivered. Then a
simplified Sri Lankan power system network will be modeled together with the participants. This will
provide a chance to get more knowledge on the simulation package as well as modeling a power system
network.
Once the model is completed; load flow, fault level and transient stability studies will be carried out
to analysis the system performance for different loading conditions. This will provide more depth knowledge
of the software as well as the operations of the system network under different operating conditions.
As a result this workshop will give some level of knowledge on modeling and analyzing the power system
network. Therefore this expected to be enough for an active power engineering students to work more on these types of
studies.
