TREATMENT PLAN

NOTE: Periodontal treatment in patient with uncontrolled diabetes is contraindicated.

1. Preliminary Phase
-ask for the consultation from patient’s physician
-Analyze the laboratory test
-Analyze the radiographs and photographs
-Glucose level should be continuously monitored and periodontal treatment should be
performed when the disease is in well controlled state.

2. Non Surgical Phase (Phase 1)

- Patient’s education
- Plaque control
- Diet control
-Removal of calculus (Oral Prophylaxis) and root planning
- Correction of restorative factors (excavation of caries)
3. Evaluation of Non-Surgical Phase
- Rechecking (see if there is improvement)
-Rechecking the pocket depth, gingival inflammation.
-Plaque and calculus, caries
-Always give patient oral hygiene instruction
4. NO surgical Phase in our case but in case there is, give prophylactic antibiotics 2 days
preoperatively (Phase 2)
5. Restoration Phase or Phase 3
-Corrective Phase
-Final restoration
-Periodontal Examination

6. Maintenance Phase (Phase 4)


-Rechecking again
-Good prognosis, every 6 months recall
(if hindi every 3 months)
