Pruebas de Pozos
revestimiento(TR):

The well tests are used to provide the information that the reservoir characteristics provide,
predicting the performance of the reservoir and diagnosing the formation damage.
Well test analysis is one of the most important methods available to reservoir engineers to
establish reservoir characteristics, such as permeability and compressibility, position of
boundaries and faults.
Well tests consist of a process in which the well is subjected to an impulse, which
produces a change in the flow rate and its response is measured, that is, a change in
pressure.
The response of the deposit is determined by parameters such as: permeability, damage
factor, accumulation coefficient in the well, distance to the edges, among others.
The interpretation of pressure tests is the primary method for determining permeability,
damage factor, reservoir pressure, fracture length and conductivity and reservoir
heterogeneity.
In addition, it is the only quickest and cheapest method for estimating time-dependent
variables such as damage factor and permeability in stress-sensitive sites.
Therefore the parameters that are calculated with the well tests are the following:
• Drainage area.
• Reservoir evaluation.
• Field management.
To plan a pressure test we must take into account a series of parameters that will allow us
to obtain the expected results.
If all the formations present in the subsoil were comprised of competent rock and leak
proof of liquids, the casing would be unnecessary, but since these conditions are far from
reality, it is necessary to locate this pipe inside the well to solve it. These and other
problems that arise during the drilling, completion and subsequent productive life of the
well. As the rock is permeable and porous, an exchange of fluids is established between
the formation fluids and the well drilling fluids, as it drills; These interactions have several
implications:
• Loss or gain of fluid in the walls of the well due to the difference of pressures between
the formation and the drilling fluid, or between formations, thus mixing the hydrocarbons
with fluid belonging to another formation or the drilling fluids which is undesirable.
• Fluid entry at higher pressures than drilling fluid, or kick, which can lead to well control
events which can endanger surface personnel and equipment.
• The permeability of the rock contributes to the formation of a mud cake on the face of
the well, whose function is to create a waterproof layer for the flow of fluids towards the
formation, but in certain cases it can lead to differential stresses of the pipeline.
The rocks compared to the metal structures can not handle the applied loads or the
damages caused to their structure in the same way, this is evidenced when the rock is put
under tension or compression due to external loads. Insufficient pressure on the face of
the well can lead to the collapse of the hole and the generation of cavings since the walls
are not being supported by the same force when the piece of rock is removed when drilling
the hole, and excessive pressure can lead to fracture of the well face, inducing drilling fluid
losses within the formation and possibly generating a well control event.
The chemical interaction of the fluids that are in contact during the drilling of the well or
after it, can cause a large number of events, depending on the nature of the fluids. In the
case of water, it includes the transfer of this fluid from the hole to the formation and its
subsequent chemical interaction with the rock of the formation, or with the fluids that are
inside it.
The result of this interaction may be the increase in pore pressure and the decrease in the
cohesive strength of the rock due to the softening of the rock matrix. Both effects can
result in loss of hole stability.
The chemical mechanisms must be coupled with the mechanics, since depending on the
water content or filtering of the drilling fluid, the swelling of the reactive clays that are found
within the formations can occur, which then causes an expansion of these; With this
expansion, in most cases, the stability of the hole is affected, causing the collapse of the
well and it can reach a possible entrapment of the drill pipe. These phenomena must be
taken into account as dependent on each other, since the chemical component affects the
state of the hole in its mechanical stability.
The degree to which the strength of the rock decreases depends on its lithology and the
degree of fluid invasion. The sandstones and carbonates during their lithification process
form a cement that shows little influence by the invading fluid, opposed to the result shown
by the clay minerals, where its matrix, also of clay, is strongly affected by the fluid and its
chemical components.
• Types of coatings Coatings include all the kind of pipe that is installed inside the well for
the purpose of stabilizing the hole, isolating and controlling fluids and formation pressures
with the help of the cement that is located in the back of the lining between the pipe and
the perforated formation. Depending on the depth to which the coating is placed, they have
complementary functions. It is common practice in the oil industry to call the lining
according to its function; In this sense, the same pipe diameter can be cataloged in
different ways depending on the function with which it has been installed.
The surface coating The surface string is the pipe that is located in the hole in its first
stage and has two primary functions:
• Support the surface equipment, (heads, blowout preventers) and the following pipes that
will be located in the well.
• Isolation of shallow aquifers to avoid contamination of the drilling fluid with fresh water
and formation with drilling fluids. The depth at which the surface coating sits depends on
the depth at which the otarget area of interest is located, and the depth at which shallow
aquifer areas are to be isolated. However, the depth at which this coating is located in
most cases does not exceed 1000 ft.
32 ft. And anterior to this lining is a pipeline of about 30 "to 120 ± 10 ft, called the
conductive coating; this one is placed due to the great loads of the sum of all the pipes that
are located on the heads when the deposits are so deep (16,000 -18,000 ft); this helps to
distribute in a better way the charges over the well. This string is also located to avoid the
fracture of shallow formations with the drilling fluid in weak formations and avoid problems
of environmental contamination.
Intermediate or protective coating The following pipeline that is located inside the well is
called intermediate or protective coating, a specific function of this is to allow adjustment of
the weight of the drilling fluid as different formations are drilled. pore pressures; For
example, if you are drilling
With a density fluid of 10 lb / gal and a formation with an abnormal pore pressure and
greater than that exerted by the drilling fluid is found, it would be necessary to raise the
weight of the mud. If you continue drilling with that mud weight or worse, if it becomes
lighter, you could induce the influx of formation fluid into the well and cause a kick or
blowout, even if you do not give a good handling could reach the well blowout. On the
other hand, if the weight of the mud is increased above 10 lb / gal, there could be events of
circulation loss and fracturing of the upper formations when exceeding its tensile stress
with the pressure exerted by the heavier fluid.
The solution to this would be to stop the perforation at the top of the abnormally
pressurized formation and place a casing inside the well and cement it, in order to
continue with the drilling, increasing the weight of the mud without having any drawbacks
of loss of circulation in the formations. superiors already perforated. Additional functions of
this pipeline are to provide stability to the well before reaching the section of interest,
preventing the collapse of the walls of the hole from having formations with the face of the
well weakened when in contact with the drilling fluid for a while. dragged on. In the case of
the piedmont, this is a critical factor when drilling and locating this lining, since if the León
formation is left exposed for a long time, the face of the exposed hollow begins to overflow,
producing cavings and creating problems with the cleaning of the hole, increasing the
likelihood of sticking. Another function is to provide a safe area for the handling of blowout
hazards where these pressure control events can be controlled in a controlled manner.
