INCIDENT/INVESTIGATION REPORT
Narr. (cont.) OCA: 02-19-011051 Gainesville Police Department
NARRATIVE
1. AO: On July 6, 2019, at approximately 2322 hours, I responded to 1241 SW 4th Ave, in reference to a Battery Report. I was in
uniform driving a marked police car.

2. INV: Upon arrival, I made contact with Daniel Weldon II, the victim. Weldon advised that he went to Midtown with a few of his
friends to celebrate the 4th of July and afterwards he went to Pita Pit, 1702 W University Ave C to obtain some food. Weldon said while
he was inside of the facility he was approached by 4 to 9 individuals who did not like the fact that he was wearing a "Trump hat" on his
head and a "Trump pin" on his shirt.

Weldon said the group started yelling, "Take your stuff off", "Racist", "Trump is a racist".

Weldon advised that he verbally engaged the group by saying, "Trump is going to win in 2020 because of people like you". Weldon said
the attacks were political prior to his statement, but after his statement Weldon said the remarks became personal like "You have a small
dick". Weldon continued to say that one of the individuals pushed him on the shoulder, ripped off his "Trump 2016 pin" from off of his
shirt and attempted to take off his "Trump" hat off of his head.

Weldon said he intended to use the restroom and did so while he was inside the facility and as he exited the restroom the group was
awaiting him taking pictures of him and flicking him off with their pictures.

Weldon told me that the encounter lasted approximately 5 to 10 minutes and he did not call law enforcement during the altercation.
Weldon continued to say that he felt threatened by the males in the group and believed that they could cause him harm.

Weldon explained that a few of the males in the group pushed the entire group outside of the facility.

Weldon said he approached a law enforcement officer after leaving Pita Pit, but was told that nothing could be done about the situation.

Weldon did place a call for service with the Alachua County Sherriff office, but advised dispatch that he would call back when he had the
appropriate time to place the call for service.

I will attempt to obtain any surveillance footage of the incident from Pita Pit.

3. EV: Weldon took several photographs of the group and emailed them to my work email.

The incident was captured on my Body warn camera and submitted to the archives.
