This self-paced program combines clinicals and classroom experience covering all aspects of nursing necessary for
completion of the national licensing exam for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is trained to provide routine nursing care and allowed to perform more complex
tasks only under the direction of a registered nurse or a doctor. They bring their caring, sympathetic natures to
hospitals, home health care services, nursing care facilities, physicians’ offices and other health care providers and
agencies.

This two-year, advanced medical program trains students in radiography. Radiography


uses radiation to produce images of tissues, organs, bones, and vessels of the body. The
radiographer is an essential member of the health care team who works in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities include accurately positioning the patient, producing quality diagnostic images,
maintaining equipment, and using computerized record keeping. This certificate program
of specialized training focuses on each of these responsibilities. Graduates take a national
certifying examination to become a registered technologist in radiography, RT(R).

This nine-month course includes physics, anatomy, patient care, and safety procedures for
performing an MRI. The training is structured in an independent, self-study format, with
direction from Autry radiography faculty. Hands-on experience is provided with an experienced

in magnetic resonance, RT(MR). Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible in radiography,
nuclear medicine or radiation therapy.

Respiratory Therapists (RT) are highly trained medical staff who work with patients who need assistance
with respiratory or cardiopulmonary problems. An RT is proficient in the therapeutic use of medical gases,
humidification, mechanical ventilation, artificial airways, chest physiotherapy and CPR. As a health care specialist,
the RT may also be instrumental in the diagnosis, treatment and preventive care of patients with asthma,
pulmonary emphysema, pulmonary edema and respiratory distress. Upon program completion, a student may test
for Certified Respiratory Therapist credentials, Oklahoma License, and is eligible for the advanced level examination
to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist.

A Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team that includes the surgeon, anesthesiologist, certified
registered nurse anesthetist, registered nurse and licensed practical nurse working to deliver patient care before,
during and after surgery. He or she handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the
surgical procedure and has an understanding of the procedure being performed, anticipates the needs of the
surgeon, and ensures quality patient care while maintaining the sterile field. Students will have the opportunity
for clinical learning experiences in the operating room, central processing, anesthesia, cardiac catheterization lab,
outpatient department, endoscopy and the post anesthesia care unit. Upon completion of the program students
may test to become Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and
Surgical Assisting.
