Greetings from around the region

Dear pharmacists of tomorrow,

It's a great pleasure to join the team of the Eastern Mediterranean for the second time.
The past term was a wonderful experience with all its accomplishments, especially EMPS
hosted in Amman -Jordan, and I believe I speak for everyone when I say that this event
has influenced us all and will never be forgotten.

This year IPSF EMRO is heading to a new level of accomplishment. Working with the team
from the regional working group I hope we'll be able to set a strategy for achieving goals
that will help the following teams maintain IPSF spirit and activities in the region while
taking the first steps of making this strategy into reality.
IPSF EMRO will also focus on building the capacity of member countries by training and
preparing selected members to lead their associations effectively.
So, keep an eye on this year's events in IPSF and make sure you contact us for any
Marwa Beltagy information; we are all here to help you.
Chairperson 2008-11 Sincerely,
Marwa Beltagy

Hello everybody, this is Nour Barakat, the General Secretary of IPSF EMRO 2010-2011.
I am a senior pharmacy student in JU pharmacy faculty in Jordan who adores living life
to extremes and going beyond the limits. I have been a member of JPSA for almost two
years now and working as an EMRO secretary with such a gifted team is a lifetime
experience that I am proud of. I believe that this year we will be the change we want
to see in our region and the world, and I will do my best to support my team in making
our dreams come true to create better a pharmacy reality for all students.

“We choose to go...not because [it is] easy, but because [it is] hard, because that goal
will serve to measure and organize the best of our energies and skills, because that
challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and
one which we intend to win.”

Best wishes … Nour Barakat

Secretary 2010-11

Dear all IPSFers around the globe,

My name is Mariam Al-Bess, from Jordan; this is my second term as the Regional Relations
Officer of the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of IPSF (IPSF EMRO). It has been a
pleasure for me to work with the IPSF team, creating outstanding projects, spreading new
ideas, and exchanging experiences.

During my term we had the chance to organize the first Eastern Mediterranean
Pharmaceutical Symposium here in Jordan and we created a new IPSF brand called EMPS.
It has the IPSF spirit that we spread all over the region and it was the start of a new era for
our region.

I hope to help the IPSF Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office to continue growing, giving
Mariam Al-Bess more students the chance to be involved in IPSF programs and activities and encouraging
Regional Relations them to bring the change wherever they are!

Warm Greetings to everyone around the world of IPSF!

This is Khaled Mostafa from Egypt, I’m 21 years old and I’m a pharmacy student starting my
fourth year at Tanta University.

I’ve been linked to IPSF since 2009 when I was a member of IPSF DCSC’s “Design and
Creativity Subcommittee”. The EMPS 2010 in Jordan was my real involvement in IPSF EMRO
activities and events; I participated as the Official Delegate for my national federation “EPSF,
Egypt”.Being involved in IPSF work is such a great experience and being part of IPSF as the
ICCO of the IPSF EMRO was a big challenge for me, so I decided to take this challenge.I am
sure I’m up to this responsibility because creativity and professionalism are my first
passions, and I’m really enjoying my work.

If you want to know more about me, people would say that I'm full of energy and I think out
Khaled Mostafa
of the box. I have fun most of the time, but when there is work to do, I’m serious and hard
working. Internal Coordination

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in this: my family, my friends Officer 2010-11
and the EPSF as well. I’m looking forward to meeting you all in Qatar next summer.

Cheers...

My name is Nimer Khatib, I am a 23 year old from Jordan; I am a PharmD senior student at the
Jordan University of Science and Technology.

RPO EMRO carries the responsibility of initiating and coordinating the regional projects,
campaigns, fundraising and research projects over eight countries belonging to the Eastern
Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO). The dynamic relations and diplomacy used in handling
the regional affairs are essential for dealing with the variety of cultures affiliated with the
EMRO, as well as for keeping the regional work flow efficient.

My agenda as EMRO-RPO for 2010-2011 is as following: the ASK YOUR PHARMACIST

campaign, Health Awareness Day, WHO model and Qatar’s EMPS 2011. Besides enhancing our
strategic plans alongside WHO and UNISCO, who are known as international partners for
Nimer Khatib carrying out IPSF projects, hopefully the agenda makes a remarkable breakthrough in IPSF
EMRO activities and takes a step forward to establishing a new shiny future for pharmacists
Regional Projects
and their local/regional associations. Sharing the developmental plans with governments and
Officer 2010-11
health bodies is a vital part of our vision for expanding our projects.

In my personal life, I’m blessed with a great family and commendable friends; they are all the
reason behind my success.

Dear IPSF colleagues around the world,

This is Muhanad Diab, a senior PharmD student from Jordan andthe EMRO Student
Exchange Officer (SEO) for 2010. Since the moment I met the IPSF team for this region, I
knew that these guys have something unique, something that inspires me to be part of
the team. This is a team who has an outstanding spirit that sparks brightly, especially at
EMPS 2010.

I believe that the Student Exchange Program has a big role in the growing process for
pharmacy students. It also provides the opportunity for all students to get more involved
in IPSF activities, to learn more about the pharmacy career in the region, and opens a
new horizon for students to interact new cultures across the world. Muhanad Diab
For this year, I am introducing a new idea that I hope will help the students during their Regional Student
exchange trip. It is a TRAVEL GUIDE that contains brief tips about the pharmacy career in Exchange Officer
the region and information about the various cultures in each region. 2010-11

My name is Raja Barazi; Qatar Pharmacy Undergraduate Society (QPhUS) External Vice
President and QPhUS IPSF contact person.

I am in my third year of pharmacy studies, but I joined QPhUS 3 years ago as a 1st year class
representative. I enjoyed this committee so much I continued and ran for different roles
every year. I enjoy leading and participating in many professional and health- related
promotional events.

Raja Barazi I was the QPhUS official delegate at the IPSF 56th World Congress in Slovenia and now I am
Chairperson the Chairperson of the 2nd Eastern Mediterranean Pharmaceutical Symposium (EMPS) 2011
of 2nd Eastern Reception Committee.
Mediterranean Last year was a busy year for QPhUS – with many successful achievements that moved
Pharmaceutical QPhUS forward; hosting EMPS 2011 was just a dream and now QPhUS is trying to bring this
Symposium dream to reality. Hosting EMPS 2011 in Qatar will be a great opportunity for QPhUS to be
deeply involved in IPSF and EMRO.

The theme for EMPS 2011 is to use Aladdin’s magic carpet to take the symposium
attendees on an adventure to Qatar to learn more about Qatari culture and about the
pharmacy profession.

On behalf of EMPS 2011 Reception Committee I want to welcome you all to Qatar, and I
want to invite you to join us on the 2011 magic carpet ride.

Sincerely,
