The Innovation: Cognizant’s DW, BI and Performance Management practice has created a
unique business model with a suite of services enabled by its “Value Creators.” With
Cognizant’s services, centered around 28 Value Creators across the DW and BI value chain,
customers have derived additional value from their investments. These include enhanced
service levels, reduced total cost of ownership and improved systems quality.
Key Achievements: Innovation in DW and BI Services, powered by the Value Creators, has
helped Cognizant in Market differentiation, Customer acquisition, Delivery excellence and
Customer delight. Value Creators have driven US$ 62 million of services revenue from new
and existing customers over the last six years.
The innovation has also enabled Cognizant and its users to bag several awards in the DW
and BI industry, including the TDWI (The Data Warehousing Institute) Best Practices Award
(2000); the Informatica Innovation Award (2007); the Computerworld BI Perspectives Best
Practices Award (2005 and 2007) and the Cognos Excellence Award (2005).
Gartner recognized Cognizant’s innovation in the recently published Magic Quadrant for
BI Services stating that the use of proprietary accelerators and tools in BI projects
allowed for consistent delivery. Some customers have even adopted these Value Creators
as part of their architectural standards and realized substantial benefits.
Furthermore, Gartner predicts that 70 percent of all BI projects will engage system
integrators. The size of the services market is increasing and there exists tremendous
opportunity to differentiate and acquire new customers with these value creators.
