 With this baggage in me, I kept
putting off all invitations year in and
year out from my wife, sister-in-law and
well-meaning brother and sister
cursillistas to come to a cursillo
weekend. My usual response was that I
wasn’t ready yet and only the Lord will
make it happen.

Anyway, this year my wife’s

unrelenting prayers and persistence paid
off. God called and I responded. I was
all packed up on that Thursday morning
when my wife sensed my moment of
hesitation. She asked me if I was
absolutely sure I wanted to do it. She
said as she has said so many times
before that if I was going, it was not for
them or for anyone else but for myself.
And that sealed it.

prayed for Batch 82 and me. Your
prayers certainly helped us through.

AM I WORTHY

Whenever we are expecting a
visitor at home, we prepare our house to
make it look neat and we wear
appropriate clothes. As we prepare for
the advent of our savior, it behooves us
to prepare ourselves and ask, “Am I
worthy for the promises of Christ? Am I
worthy to be called a Cursillista?”
Answering these questions
truthfully causes us to bring out our true
selves. Many times we use a yardstick
that justifies what we do, how we behave
and how we think but the only true and
authentic yardstick are those found on
the scriptures.
Let’s start with what we do. Do
we treat our family members, our co-
workers or business contacts fairly and
honestly? Do we show understanding

and respect for one another? Do we
spend time to lighten the temporal
burdens of our brothers and sisters? How
about our behavior. Do people see in us
the image of Christ worthy of praise and
be called a model of goodness. Do we
live out to the fullest what we heard or
proclaimed in our three-day weekend.
Do we seek the assistance of the Holy
Spirit in all we do, in all our dreams and
plans so that the result may be pleasing
to God?
Lastly, how do we think?
Thinking is the prelude to doing. If we
have evil thoughts, we will do evil
things. Some people say that thinking
without actually doing is not a sin.
Again, a faulty yardstick for in our act of
contrition we say, “I have sinned in
thought, word and deed.” Do we
condone discourtesy to people under us
or to people in authority and charged
with responsibility because we thought
we know better.
There is a claim that it is healthy
to have disagreements and I say, up to a
point. With the early Christians,
whenever there was disagreement, the
Apostles interceded right away for
prolonged disagreements breaks the
camaraderie existing in the group.
Humility trumps intelligence and
consensus creates lasting results.
So, brothers and sisters in Christ,
let us make sure we are worthy that
Christ should come to us. Let there be a
robust spirituality in our hearts so that
God will be in our life.

Community Picnic will be held.

Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel was
well attended.

The Ultreya/Christmas Party was held

last December 4, 2010 at St. Raymond
Parish Hall in Dublin. Thanks to those
who helped with the event and to those
who participated. It was a success.

Our Lady of Good Counsel (OLGC)
Cursillo Team Report

The Cursillo Team of Our Lady of Good
Counsel Church in San Leandro is going
strong with almost 25 active and
dynamic members. Their participation
in almost all of the Ministries of their
Parish Church is very visible. Most are
Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and
Members of the Music Ministry.
Prominently spearheading the RCIA is
our very own Deacon Noe Tuason, with
wife Sis. Cora Tuason handling the
Finance Committee. Four members are
in the Parish Council.
The Team’s close-knit cooperation may
be due to the fact that we are all
members of the same Parish Church and
have been together for the past 10 years
or so. The Cursillo Team was first
organized by Sis. Mila Daulog.
Among other things that the Cursillo
Team has accomplished are:
- Participation in the yearlong Food
Drive of the Parish especially during
Typhoon Ondoy, Thanksgiving and
Christmas Food Drives.
- Volunteer activities to help pack
Medical supplies for the needy countries
under the auspices of MEDCORP.
- Presently, planning for the volunteer
activities for St. Vincent De Paul
Charities.
- Spearheading the Simbang Gabi
program for the parish for the past 10
years.
- Church Ministries participation
especially in Fund-Raisers.
We thank the Lord for the opportunities
given to us to be able to serve and share
the joy that comes only from Him.

REMINISCENCE OF THE
HOLIDAYS
CHRISTMAS MAGIC
In December, you can feel the magic.
You could feel the cold air on your face
and on your skin.
Christmas joys begin when you see
people shopping everywhere and
carrying packages for their loved ones,
when you hear the sounds of choirs
singing through the frosty air, when you
see candles all aglow, when all houses
are decorated with different colored
lights, and when you see Christmas
cards come and go in the mail.
Christmas is magic. There is joy
everywhere. This is the time of sharing
and the wonderful days of warmth and
caring. The hearts are full of wonders
with loving sounds to say to one another.
Christmas is a gathering of families and
is a season when friends drop by to visit.
And on Christmas day, you’ll see the
bright star shining leading to a manger
where our Lord Jesus was born.
Christmas is magic. And it comes only
once a year. Let us make it as magical

as it can be, not only now but also
throughout the year.

MEN.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
We welcome the New Year 2011. Now,
still in its scanty cloth, we want to take
care of it, nurture it and make the best of
it.
Plans are underway to make 2011 the
best ever. There will definitely be plenty
of activities in our lives.
We will gather our families to a nice and
sumptuous New Years Eve media noche
filled with delicious Filipino foods such
as pancit, dinuguan and puto, good soup
and bread.
Some of us will go to a New Years Eve
Party and dance the night away until the
sound of midnight, when we join the
others in singing the joys of the holiday
season.
For 2011, here’s hope that our lives may
be merry and bright and full of gaiety
and happiness.
To our sisters and brothers, we invite
you to get in touch with your sisters and
brothers. There are lots of ways to
connect with them.
