Professional Experience-- -

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals

Research Assistant September 2007 – June 2010
• Conducted research with Professors within the university
• Supervised undergraduate labs
o Taught undergraduate courses including Digital Systems Design, Digital Signal Processing and Electronic
circuits
• Taught and graded other undergraduate courses in the University
• Assisted the Registrar in maintaining student records

Development of Console Prototype – SOMAROUTHU TECHNOLOGIES

Undergraduate Final Project January 2006 – April 2006
o The project deals with the development of Encryption Algorithm for Bluetooth Security. In the process we first develop
a several 128 bit link keys which will look after all security transactions in a Bluetooth device.

P. O. Box 32, KFUPM, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia (+966) 506475485
o The bit generated will undergo XOR operation and finally 4 LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Registers) are used to get a
final 128 bit key which will be used for Encrypting and Decrypting the data.
o The front end tool used is Keil Software for the development of 128 bit key with Windows XP as an operating system.
Embedded C is used as a programming language.

Research Work and Projects -

• Thesis Topic: Leaky Least Mean Mixed Norm Algorithm

o Summary: The focus of this work is to derive the Leaky Least Mean Mixed Norm Algorithm and asses its
performance using the energy conservation concept.
o Thesis Advisor : Professor Azzedine Zerguine (KFUPM, Associate Professor)

• Wi-Fi – Wireless Communications

o Summary: The objective of the presentation was to study the technologies in wireless communications – the
concept of Wi-Fi which is the standard for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). It’s a common language that
all the devices use to communicate to each other. If we have a standard, people can make all sorts of devices that
can work with each other.

• Seismic Signal Processing

o Summary: Noise in Seismic data causes problems for exploration. The project included filtering of seismic noise
from data obtained from fields. The data was provided by Schlumberger Dhahran. MATLAB was used as the
simulation tool.

• Digital Communications
o Summary: To calculate the probability of symbol error over fading channels. Fading is caused due to the
interference between two or more versions of the transmitted signal which arrive at the receiver at slight different
times. In this project the significance of the alternate representation of Q-function in evaluating Average
Probability of Symbol Error over a fading channel was done and the theoretical derivations were supported using
MATLAB simulations for M PAM & M QAM modulation schemes (such as Rayleigh and Nakagami).

• Antenna Theory and Applications

o Summary: To study the Radiation Characteristics of Planar arrays for Linear and Micro strip Antennas. Antennas
with a given radiation pattern may be arranged in a pattern (line, circle, plane, etc.) to yield a different radiation
pattern. In this project I worked on designing the phased array antenna using both point sources and micro strip
rectangular patch and have plotted both the Rectangular and the Polar plot to support the design using MATLAB.

• Stochastic Processes
o Summary: Applications of CHI-SQUARE Random Variables and SINR. GPS has been widely used in studying of
the phenomena of Sudden Increase of Total Electron Content (SITEC) caused by the solar flare. To illustrate this
we construct the Independent Identical Gauss Distribution (IIDN(0,1)) and then hypothesis testing of the chi-
square is then involved in analyzing the time series of TEC so that the anomaly can be checked out.

• Digital Logic Design

o Summary: Low Power VLSI Design. Microelectronics technology has exponential performance increase at a low
cost. However, for some applications, low-power consumption is more important than performance such as mobile
communications, Wireless internet to name a few. Thus a case study has been done on Low power VLSI design
methodology.

• Digital Image Processing

o Have done several projects on Histogram Equalization, Digital Watermarking of an image and then checking the
robustness of the watermarked image using stir marking.
