Kinetic Energy required by the body at the end of 10 seconds? [2]

2. Name the 2 systems of wiring used in household electricity which one is


preferred? [2]

3. 400gms of water at 100 is mixed with 200g of water at 20 and stirred well.
Neglecting the heat absorbed by the container, calculate the final temperature of
the mixture. [2]

4. Why is an ammeter always connected in series while the voltmeter always in


parallel to a circuit across which voltage is to be measured? [2]

5. Define the term convex and concave lens. [2]

1. Name the class of levers having a mechanical advantage that is necessarily less

4. A cell supplies a current of 2.2A through 2Ω resistors connected in parallel. When

3. A piece of brass of mass 200gms and at 100 C is placed in 400g of turpentine oil,
contained in a copper calorimeter of mass 50g at 15 C. The final temperature recorded is
23 C. Find the Sp. Heat capacity of turpentine oil. [4]

1. (i) State Snell’s law of Reflection


(ii) What is the velocity of light in diamond, if the velocity of light in air is 3 x 108 m/s. The
Refractive index of diamond is 2.5.[3]

2. (i) A ball of mass 200g is at a height of 50m. If the acceleration due to gravity is 10m/s,
what is the potential energy of the block?
(ii) If the ball is allowed to fall through a height of 20m, calculate the loss of potential
energy. [3]

3. A person stands between two parallel cliffs which are 99 m apart. He fires a gun and hears
two successive echoes after .2 seconds and .4 seconds. Calculate (i) the distance of the
person from the nearer cliff (ii) speed of the sound . [4]
