POECHOS I Hydropower Project H1

Description: A new hydroelectric power plant connected to the grid located in the North-western department of Piura, with an installed capacity and
project yearly average generation is 15.2 MW and 57,740 MWh per year, respectively.

Current Status: Projects Benefits:

Earliest project start date: November 2002. Number of direct and indirect jobs generated:
Operation start date: April 2004. 200 jobs during the construction of the power plant and 30 steady jobs.
Project lifetime: 40 years. Sustainable development contribution:
Current Status: Registered at the Executive Board. Issuance of CERs for More than 28,000 families of the Project area have been connected to

POECHOS II Hydropower Project H2

Description: Is a second phase of an existing hydropower project, Poechos I, located in the North-western department of Piura; with an installed capa-
city of 10 MW and the annual production of energy is 40 GWh.

Current Status: Projects Benefits:

Earliest project start date: February 2007.
Operation start date: May 2009.
Project lifetime: 40 years.
Current Status: Impact Assessment completed. Energy and Water con-
cession have been issued. Registered at the Executive Board.
Estimated Annual Emission Reductions (tCO2/year):
An average of 22,770.89 tCO2-equivalent per year.

Total project cost: US$ 10,500,000
Number of direct and indirect jobs generated:
200 jobs during the construction of the power plant and 10 steady jobs.
Sustainable development contribution:
It supplies energy to local population, currently without electricity.
It provides of scholarship program for poor students of the project area
in order to continue their university studies.
