This was used to create the overall feeling

and atmosphere for the identity of the bike
program.
Apple Tree BIKE PROGRAM

logo development
Experimental logo type and the refinement of Apple Tree BIKE PROGRAM

thumbnail concept.
final logo
The concept is based on living a healthy
active lifestyle. It combines an apple, an
iconic image of health, with a bicycle, the
active life style. This is done in an abstract
way using Gestalt principles to create a
visual tug of war between the bike and the
apple. The use of rounded edges on the logo
and logo type adds a friendly more inviting
atmosphere for the identity of the bike
program.
storage
The bikes will be stored in a low cost,
low maintenance racking system. Within
each racking system is a tree, not only for
aesthetics, but to keep continuity with the
identity of the bike program and promote the
greener aspects of the community. Trees can
either be planted or preexisting. The biking
system would be based on the honor system
with a time limit. The time limit acts as an
initiative to bring the bikes back to keep
them circulating.
disk wheels
Cost effective disks will be implemented on
the bikes to help create program awareness
and also to deter theft through public
awareness.
final bike
The bike will be fully covered in red paint to
keep corporate unity, creating community
awareness of the program. The red paint will
also decrease the street value of the bicycle
helping with the prevention of theft.
way finding

Bikes will be located in a central location

downtown. This will be an equal commute
for everyone exspecially those using
Sudbury Transit. The system is based off
of a colour coded timing system to let the
participant know how far away they are from
the central location. It is there as a reminder
of the time limit and as an initiative to bring
the bikes back to keep them in circulation
for others to use.

Note: Not the final map used for the system.
