Of the many young people who made @ecisions last summer to follow Christ, Becky and Lynda are the first to prove that thelr decisions were not just emotional experiences to be forgotten when Christian fellowship at Camp ended. Both girls know that being a true Christian is more than a parttime job and have surrendered their lives completely into His service. However, when she heard of all the youth who had made decisions at Mid- Western Camp, her feeble, artificial excuse: collapsed, and at Western Camp she committed her life to the Lord and took definite steps to repent and follow Him. ‘Lynda, too, was convicted when the inspired youth retuned from Mid-West- em Camp, among whom were her closest friends. She knew immediately that thi \ is what she wanted and that there was no reason to postpone it for another day. ‘When she realized that she alone would break her family cirele in heaven if she id not repent, she gave her life wholly to the Lord. ‘May God grant that the baptism of these two dear ones are but the beginning of faithful service to Him. ‘TILIBA, NEW GUINEA — March 20, was another blesced occasion for the small congregation here at Tiiba. Four more souls were baptized into the death of Crist, making our native church total 45 members. The baptism was held at Pem, ‘station about 10 miles from the mission. CHRISTIAN FRIENDSHIP. MESSENGER Dear Mom, Even if there were no “Mother's Day” I would still thank the Lord for mothers like you. T am thankful that you and Dad did not depart from the nurture and admonition of ‘your childhood training but rather sought first God's King- ‘dom and its righteousness. The effects of His promises to bless generation after generation have reached not only me Dut also my children through His same goodness. Thank you for providing a happy, loving, Christian hhome — one which revealed to me the shared love a family. ‘experiences and taught me the principles of unity with and love for one another. My exposure to gracious, Christian living has increased my own interest in the Greatest Book and its perfect example. ‘Thank you for your patience and love in caring for me throughout the years; as a squalling infant, an insecure — fand dependent adolescent, and a rebellious, belligerent teen- ager. Lam sure I drove you and Dad to your knees many times Thank you for being both mother and father to us all, since the Lord called Dad home. Forgive me for so often being occupied with my own cares that 1 fail to notice the depth of your loneliness. Thank you for helping me so many times when I was ready to accept defeat. You will never know how often your encouragement carried me, and today T would not change the experiences through which the Lord led me. Though at time: I complain and am irritat- ‘ed, your loving patience and “crying shoulder” has never ‘been too high for me to reach — thank you again! For having taught me the once unappreciated basic principles of homemaking, and for showing me that God sometimes needs my own hands to an:wer my prayer for ‘my neighbor, my sincere thanks to you. For all the innumerable things you have taught me in ‘word, by example, and through your unshaken faith in God ‘and prayer, the most sincere thanks T ean offer is simply, “May God ever bless you for being just you.” Your loving daughter, PRESENT DAY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE, (1 wish this young woman in New Guinea, who has put her faith in Christ, could write her own story, but since she is not yet literate, I will relate what she told me.) “Twas on my way home from ‘seeing the paper’ (li racy class) at Tiliba, I was all alone with my baby (carried in a string net bag on her back). I started to cross the river and there was no bridge, Before I began to cross, I prayed to God and asked Him to help me.I was crossing all right when I stepped in a deep hole and went down in the water. ‘The water carried me... my spirit left me (uncon’cious) don't know what happened. Later my spirit came back was on the bank. My baby was not hurt. My body hurt from the large rocks in the water hitting me and my chest hurt but I was not dead. God had taken us in His Hands and ppt us on the bank because I trusted in Him.” Pray for our brethren here in New Guinea who are just coming to know that “God is a very present help in ‘ime of trouble.” Elsie Schlatter MAY — 1966 “You Can‘t Bury The Truth or Kill God.” Because the Jews refused to face reality, they did all they could to secure the tomb so that no one would ever hnave reason to think that the claims of Jesus and His dis. ciples were true. In Easter Sunday's afternoon sermon. by Bro, Bob Staudt, we were reminded that in spite of the Jews extreme measures, their efforts were hopelessly in vain; rot only the people of Jerusalem found out, but today the whole world knows about Jesus. ‘There are many examples. today of people running away from reality. We dislike to face the truth and the Will, fof God because honesty often causes trouble in our lives for a vasa, when wrong doing is exposed. Not facing reality of truth ean give a false sense of complacency, hence we may feel no need for living @ life in conformity to God's principles. How true this was of the Pharisees. PPilate also ran away. He asked “What is truth” but ‘could not know, becaure he was not willing to pursue it any further when his prestige with Caesa" was threatened. Once again, here was an example of truth causing trouble. Ever when his wife told him of her dream causing uneasiness in hhis mind ‘and even when he realized Jesus had done no wrong, he refused to face the facts and do something about it So Pilate and the Pharisees retained thelr prestige, but lott thelr peace of mind, So also with us, we may be living in happy oblivion now, but eventually we will have to face the facts when Jesus comes again, and the consequences will, have to be faced. Even in this life, no man can escape a nagging conscience completely. 4% Rvery life we touch is a fleld; every. thing we do and all the words we speak, are seed.
