Awards & Recognition

• Asian paint was awarded as the “Sword of Honour” by British Safety Council for
all the paint plants in India. Sword of Honour award is considered as the greatest
achievement in safety across the world.
• Forbes Global magazine ranked Asian paints among the 200 'Best Small
Companies of the world' in 2002 and 2003 and amongst the top 200 'Under a
Billion Firms' of Asia in 2005.
• Asian paint was ranked 24th among the top paint companies in the world by
coatings world – Top Companies Report 2006.
• Asian paint was ranked as leading Indian companies in Corporate Governance in
2002 and 2005 by The Asset – Asia’s leading financial magazine.
• Asian paint received the Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year -
Manufacturing" award in 2003.

Corporate Social Responsibilities:


Environment and Safety:
• Asian Paints approaches the environment issue from the perspective of waste
minimisation and conservation of resources. Asian Paints attempt is to reuse,
recycle and eliminate waste which in results less waste is generated.
• Asian Paints four paint plants and the two chemical plants had the ISO 14001
certification for environment management standards.
• All of Asian paint plants have achieved 'zero industrial discharge' capability. This
feat has been by the installation of upgraded effluent treatment facilities and
installation of reverse osmosis plants.
• Improved incinerating systems and reverse osmosis. Bulk storage facility for
monomers which reduces wastage.

Total Water Management


• A cost effective rainwater harvesting was developed in the existing infrastructure
of the building. The scheme was finalised and has been successfully implemented
at Glen Croft at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai.
• In rainwater harvesting scheme, the dome structure and terrace of the building
have been used as catchment areas. Since this scheme delivers water directly from
dome to the over head water supply tanks, there is no requirement to pump water.
This serve as the added benefit of saving electrical power along the water.
• Asian paints has influenced harvesting of over 300 million litres of rain water.

Other Initiatives
• Improving infrastructure and healthcare at local schools. It also provide donation
of computers, tables and chairs, or through assistance in other maintenance work
for the school.
• Ankleshwar plant has taken up the cause of improving the health and hygiene
situation of schools in nearby villages.
• The Mobile Medicare Units (MMUs)which the Kasna, Patancheru and
Sriperumbudur facilities bringing healthcare to the doorsteps of the lesser
fortunate senior citizens. Asian paints has so far reached out to more than
2,00,000 senior citizens through our various age care initiatives.
