Transport services need to be promoted in order to increase business and revenue. Based
on any one (1) mode of transport discuss ways and means how these transport services are
promoted.

QUESTION 2

What is meant by the statement "Transport is often a natural monopoly"? What is the
problem with natural monopolies in transport and how may the problem be overcome?

The field of business finance for transport and logistics is wide, and the problems for
management in successfully launching, developing and controlling any firm are very
numerous and complex. Describe the seven (7) sources of finance available to transport
and logistical firms.

Increased expectations mean increased agriculture, manufacturing, personal transport,

logistical activities have deterioration in the environment. What are the environmental issues
arising from increased transportation and logistical activities? Suggest remedial measures.

decide which mode (or modes) of transport is best suited for moving the company's traffic.
What are the characteristics of each mode of transport?

inventory objectives. Outline these objectives?

Illustrate the four (4) techniques of inventory management.

Define the unit load concept. To what extend can this concept assist in the efficient
movement and the reduction of cost in the movement of goods. Illustrate your answers with
examples.
