La Ruta de las Mil Cumbres asciende desde la planicie costera oriental
hasta la cumbre de la Sierra Tecapa.
Esta zona del país, ofrece maravillosos paisajes hacia la costa. Se puede encontrar
fauna y flora muy propios de la región y se puede llegar a la Laguna de Alegría, a
la que también se le llama “La Esmeralda de América” por sus bellos colores, que se
deben a las emanaciones sulfurosas de su origen volcánico.

BOSQUE DE CHAGUANTIQUE Es una de las zonas protegidas de El Salvador y el hábitat natural

del mono araña, una especie en peligro de extinción.
Está ubicado en el municipio de Jiquilisco. Su nombre en idioma náhuatl significa “Lugar de Hermosos
Manantiales”.

BAHÍA DE JIQUILISCO Aquí se encuentran los manglares más grandes del país, donde existe abundancia de peces
y es el hogar de cientos de aves exóticas; todo en un ambiente de sol y playa, mezclado con el delicioso y suave
aroma a coco.
Eso es la Bahía de Jiquilisco, uno de los ecosistemas marítimos más hermosos de El Salvador.
Se encuentra ubicada en la zona costera del departamento de Usulután, en el municipio de Jiquilisco, a poco más de 100
kilómetros de la ciudad de San Salvador. Es una reserva natural con una longitud de costa de 55 kilómetros y con la zona de
manglar más grande y rica en recursos naturales de todo el país, donde se han identificado 54 especies de aves exóticas y curiosos
reptiles como las masacuatas, boas, iguanas, tortugas y cocodrilos.

VOLCÁN DE TECAPA Y LAGUNA DE ALEGRÍA En la Sierra de Chinameca se encuentra el Volcán Tecapa, en cuya cúspide se ubica una
pequeña laguna crateriforme que reposa sobre mantos de azufre; a ésta se le conoce como La Laguna de Alegría y es uno de los lugares
más bellos del país. Posee fumarolas y fuentes termales, a las que se les atribuyen propiedades curativas por su alta concentración de azufre.

ALEGRÍA La ciudad de Alegría está ubicada en el departamento de Usulután, entre cerros, cafetales y el imponente volcán
Tecapa, que cobija la ciudad con un clima fresco y agradable. Esta ciudad es un punto turístico muy interesante, pues
conjuga la belleza natural de sus paisajes con la riqueza de su gente.
Desde sus calles se pueden observar los sencillos pero hermosos techos, decorados con una amplia variedad de
flores de todos los colores. La mayoría de casas aún conservan la vieja estructura de barro y bahareque, lo que
convierte a la ciudad en una pintoresca estampa de tierras salvadoreñas.

BERLÍN Es una ciudad con gran tradición cafetalera, ubicada a 700 metros sobre el nivel del mar, altura que
le brinda al lugar un fresco y agradable clima. Esta ciudad ofrece a sus visitantes una gran variedad de rutas
turísticas, como las parcelas demostrativas, donde se siembran granos y hortalizas, y estanques donde se
practica el cultivo de tilapia y camarón.
Berlín ofrece también el Campo Geotérmico, cuyo principal atractivo lo constituye la generación de energía
geotérmica, proceso que podrán explicarle los guías turísticos del lugar. En este parque se pueden encontrar
museos, piscinas termales, spas, cafetería, senderos interpretativos, miradores y artesanías típicas berlineses
tales como carpintería, puros, floristería, conservas de coco, cohetes de luces y de vara.
 THE ROUTE OF A THOUSAND SUMMITS

The Route of a Thousand Summits starts at the eastern shoreline

and ascends to the top of Tecapa Mountain Range.
This part of the country has marvelous scenery towards the coast.
You find animals and plants that are quite characteristic of the
region, and you arrive at “Alegría” Lagoon, also called “The Emerald
of America” for its beautiful colors that result from its sulfurous,
volcanic emanations.

CHAGUANTIQUE FOREST Is a protected area in El Salvador, the

natural habitat of the spider-monkey, an endangered species.
It is located in the municipality of Jiquilisco. Its name in náhuatl means

abundant fish, and is home to hundreds of exotic birds; all of this, in an

environment of sun and beach, mixed with the delicious and soft scent
of coconut. This is Jiquilisco Bay, one of the most beautiful maritime
ecosystems in El Salvador.
It is located in the coastal area of Usulután department, a little over 100 km
from San Salvador City, in the municipality of Jiquilisco. This is a natural reserve
along 55 km of coastline. It has the largest mangrove forest and is one of the
