Combining simple Nine Patch blocks with Double Nine Patch blocks creates a nice balance for this
design. The Double Nine Patch blocks form both vertical and horizontal chains throughout the quilt
that keep your eye moving. Using a monochromatic color palette as shown in the sample quilt is
particularly successful when a variety of values are included in the fabrics.

Finishing the Quilt
1. Layer your quilt with batting and the pieced
backing; baste. Quilt as desired. The sample
quilt has a very simple curved design quilted in
the Double Nine Patch blocks and a straight-
line snowflake design quilted in the Nine Patch
blocks. The borders contain a swirl design to
represent swirling snow!

2. Trim the edges of the quilt layers even with the


quilt top. Use the blue floral 2H" x 42" strips to
bind the quilt.
