Re: Suffolk County Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Early Sunday morning, February 20, 2011 at approximately 1:30am Auburn Police
Officers were dispatched to 27 Steel St. on the report of a female stabbed. Upon
police arrival officers located a female sitting on top of a male in the middle of Steel
St. The female who is a friend of the victim had detained the alleged suspect until
police arrived. The female then brought police to the victim who was sitting inside
of a nearby car bleeding profusely from a large wound to her neck. Officers
immediately requested medical assistance from Auburn Fire and TLC personnel.

Upon the arrival of the ambulance the victim, a 41 year old Liverpool, NY resident,
was immediately taken from the scene directly to Upstate Medical Center because of
the life threatening injury to her neck. Once at Upstate Medical Center the victim
was taken into emergency surgery. At the time of this press release the victim is out
of surgery but still listed in critical condition.

The suspect identified as Christopher W. Tessitore was detained by officers and

subsequently transported to Auburn Memorial Hospital for self inflicted wounds to
his neck that he appeared to have inflicted after injury was done to the female
victim.

Through the police investigation it appears that the victim had accompanied her
friend, the owner of 27 Steel St. to a local benefit. When the two arrived to the 27
Steel St. address inside was the home owner’s daughter and her boyfriend
Christopher Tessitore. The home owner then left the residence to go to the store
and at some point while she was gone the victim and Tessitore engaged in a verbal
dispute. When Tessitore’s girlfriend entered the room to determine why there was
an argument she saw the victim bleeding and Tessitore with a knife in his hand.
Shortly after the home owner returned and learned what had happened. Tessitore
had left the home on foot and the home owner followed Tessitore down the street
and jumped on his back to stop him from leaving the scene until police could arrive.
