NASHVILLE, Tenn.– East Nashville business owner and Rosebank resident Anthony Davis announces his bid for the
District Seven Metropolitan-Nashville Council seat currently held by term-limited Inglewood resident, Councilman
Erik Cole. Davis’s campaign –and prospective service on the Council– will focus on: continued leadership, building
on the good work of Mayor Karl Dean and Councilman Cole; economic development; smart growth policies and
respect for the Gallatin Road SP; and public education reform. The campaign will hold an official kick-off reception
in the candidate’s honor on March 2, 5:00 p.m., at Watanabe’s in Riverside Village.

“It’d be an honor and a privilege to serve the wonderful area that is Inglewood and East Nashville on the Metro
Council,” said Davis. “I’d like to see continued improvement of our neighborhoods, and so promise to be a highly
open and accessible Councilmember. Because good communication among neighbors is fundamental to sustained
progress in our district, and to ensuring that all of Davidson County remains a great place to live, work, and play.

AGENDA
Continued [Grassroots] Leadership: Councilman Cole has done an outstanding job strengthening community
relationships, informing District residents on Council activities, and working with Mayor Dean to accomplish big
things for Nashville. Davis pledges to maintain the momentum and build on his predecessor’s reputation of
community stewardship, and his positive, hopeful perspective on even the most difficult of urban challenges.
Economic Development: A small business owner and former corporate sales rep, Davis is an ardent supporter of
relevant public sector measures that would help bring new jobs to Nashville, as well as ensure existing employment
opportunities provide living wages that allow for a decent quality-of-life. He sees high potential in the emerging
green economy, to both put Americans back to work and address serious environmental challenges, and thus is a
proponent of recommendations by the Mayor’s Green Ribbon Committee on Environmental Sustainability.
Continued growth of Gallatin Rd, smaller commercial areas (such as Riverside Village), will be a high priority.
Smart Growth: Also building on Councilman Cole’s leadership with Nashville’s recent adoption of a “Complete
Streets” policy, Davis supports the Metro-Nashville Planning Department’s Specific Plan (SP) for Gallatin Road, and
is an advocate for the corridor’s massive redevelopment potential, should a rapid transit recommendation emerge
from the Nashville Area MPO’s Northeast Corridor Mobility Study. When redevelopment occurs, he maintains it
can be accomplished in an equitable and sustainable way, with proper planning and community involvement.
Education: A product of Metro-Nashville Public Schools himself, Davis understands that great schools make strong
communities, and that strong communities support their public schools –with time, talent, resources– so that
schools, and their students, can achieve their full potential. On the Council, he’ll look for creative opportunities to
support the concept of neighborhood schools, so that the Stratford school cluster can receive ample involvement
from area parents and neighbors, while balancing a furtherance of the recent emphasis on innovation in education.

BIOGRAPHY
Young entrepreneur Anthony Davis serves as Co-Owner / Marketing Director of iDesign Inc., Web & print creative
agency with eight employees, in East Nashville. The firm was named to the 2010 “Future 50,” a list of Nashville’s
fastest-growing companies as authored by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and The Tennessean.

Davis also co-founded Greener Nashville (www.GreenerNashville.org), a local non-profit that seeks to be a “one-stop
shop” for green or sustainability-focused events, news, and other eco-developments in the city. Greener Nashville
led to his volunteer involvement with other sustainability ventures, including the annual Summit for a Sustainable
Tennessee, the U.S. Green Building Council–Middle Tenn. Chapter, the Tennessee Environmental Council, others.

Davis is the 2008 winner of the Nashville Emerging Leader Award (for PR, Advertising, & Marketing), and is
immediate-past chair of the Chamber East Council for the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, after having
served on Chamber East in various leadership roles since 2007. He volunteers as a mentor to four Stratford High
School freshmen via the Pencil Foundation, and has recently been named to the 2011-12 board of directors for
the Margaret Maddox YMCA [located directly across the street from iDesign offices] on Gallatin Road. He
previously served for several years as an Executive Board member for the Davidson County Young Democrats.

A native of Bellevue, Davis attended MNPS for the duration of his K-12 education, and graduated with Honors
from Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Magnet for Health Sciences & Engineering at Pearl High School. Growing
up, he was a multi-year tennis champion for the Bellevue Community Center, as well as for MLK Magnet, and
attended Lambuth University in Jackson, Tenn. on a tennis-related athletic and academic scholarship. He served
as president of Lambuth’s chapter of the Sigma Pi Epsilon fraternity, received a B.B.A.–Marketing in 2002, then
returned to his hometown to lead regional sales for The Christie Cookie Co. before starting his own business in
2005, by partnering with fellow Lambuth alumnus and iDesign Creative Director Brian Hamblen.

In 2007, iDesign made the strategic decision to relocate from Brentwood, Tenn. to Gallatin Road, so that the firm’s
talent might contribute to and capitalize on East Nashville’s growing community of artists – a “creative class” that
seems to be uniquely thriving across the river. iDesign’s client roster has included established Nashville-based
companies like Gaylord Entertainment, KVBPR, Bohan Advertising, MDHA, and United Neighborhood Health
Services. Recent projects include website redesigns for the Ryman Auditorium’s website, SSRCx, and many other
area small businesses.

FOR SUPPORTERS & PROSPECTIVE CONSTITUENTS

Davis, along with a diverse committee of hosts and other supporters, will hold a “Meet the Candidate” reception
($25 suggested campaign investment) at Watanabe’s in Riverside Village, on March 2, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

A core component of Davis’s transparency and accessibility program for District Seven constituent services is a
proposed “Councilman’s Coffee,” to be held every second Tuesday of the month, 7:30 a.m. at Ugly Mugs (1886
Eastland Ave.) – where Davis would be routinely available in a casual setting to answer questions or listen to
concerns from any District Seven resident or business owner.

Betty Collins, a resident of the district and trusted bookkeeper for Davis’s business, will serve as campaign
treasurer. Davis welcomes and is exceedingly grateful for any assistance over the coming months, financial or
volunteer-wise, in helping to communicate his agenda, character and business record, to District Seven voters.
