Main Responsibilities of the Job

1. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS STRATEGIES

• Devise, manage and implement market led compensation & benefits strategies for
the Region
• Assessment of global competitive compensation practices vis-à-vis the company's
competitive position.
• Recommends actions and/or programs to improve compensation programs and
strategies.

2. COMPENSATION DESIGN

• Assess the effectiveness and competitiveness of the GROUP’S compensation and


benefit plans, including continuous market analysis and review of employee opinions
through surveys and exit feedback so as to help design appropriate recruitment and
retention initiatives.
• Introduce need based policies; review existing policies on a periodic basis and
implement changes; participate in Internal & External benefits surveys.

3. FORMULATION OF COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

• Collaborate with compensation and benefit design groups in order to capture


market information specific to local region and provide input on program development.
• Devise Grade and pay structures and interpret the Hay/Mercer model of Expat
Compensation and work out the compensation for the expats moving on overseas
assignment
• Ensure plans and programs are in compliance with local regulations.

4. JOB EVALUATION

• Work with Departments for matters with regards to job analysis and job
evaluation.
• Act as a liaison between the evaluation committee and the HO.
• Conducts job evaluations and compensation surveys, helps establish salary
ranges, and prepares policies and procedures to ensure competitive employee
compensation.

5. • COMMUNICATION

• Improve communication of policies and benefits through Benefits campaigns;


Policy clarification sessions for the HR and Resourcing team; Timely response to queries
on policies and benefits.
• Disseminate information and communications to local HR in the Region

6. BENCHMARKING & SALARY SURVEYS

• Responsible for pay & benefits market surveys on a regular basis to ensure that
the Company maintains its competitive position at a global level.
• Keep abreast of external environment for emerging trends, regulatory changes,
taxation rules, best practices and advises the management as appropriate.

7. BENEFITS

• Review, analysis and benchmarking on Policies and Benefits, in consultation with


Management team, relating to Service Conditions, Compensation, Incentive policies,
Variable compensation and Deferred Compensation programs. Participate in regular
compensation surveys and one on one data sharing.
• Manages the administrative process of benefit programs. This may include such
areas as: Insurance, pension programs, employee benefits etc.

7. VARIABLE PAY & BONUS SCHEME

• Develop effective approaches to annual increments based on budgets, deferred


compensation, variable pay and bonus/incentive scheme based performance for the
regional and Global indicators.

• Ensure effective and periodic analysis of compensation & benefits and provide
MIS support on periodic and need basis. Ensure automation of all critical C&B
requirements scope & Financials

INTERFACES AND DECISION MAKING

Working Environment : Functions as a business partner in a knowledge environment


which must acknowledge diverse global cultures. The job holder must provide effective
Compensation & Benefits solutions, support and service in a period of rapid growth of
THE GROUP locally and internationally.
Contacts :
Internal : Heads of Departments, other key staff of the THE GROUP group throughout
the world.
External : Market Survey agencies, Compensation & Benerfits consultants, senior HR
counterparts in the community to keep track of changes in the region and internationally.
Decision Making :
Develops and recommends Compensation & Benefits strategies, policies and processes,
including major reward programs, salary structures.

job/ Person Specifications


Qualifications/Knowledge:

A graduate in Commerce, Economics, Psychology or Business Management, preferably


with a Master’s Degree in HR / or in Finance. Proficiency in computers, HRIS, with good
knowledge of MS Office packages, including excellent Excel skills are essential.
Skills:
Strong skills in formulation and implementation of organizational level policies,
recommending corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related
problems, perform various activities to develop, implement and administer compensation
policies and programs. Be able to identify and benchmark jobs, draw up job equivalence,
assess compensation gaps and recommend remuneration changes during the remuneration
revision exercise.

Experience:

At least 6- 8 years experience after MBA or 8 -10 years after graduation in a


Compensation & Benefits role with extensive experience in compensation and benefit
plan design and delivery, with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and
draw valid conclusions. Good background in finance and statistics desirable. Experience
in MNCs/ organisations in the service industry with exposure to global knowledge of
compensation design/trends be an advantage.
