It is the policy of the Minidoka County Joint School District #331 to hire and retain a highly
qualified, fully certified teaching and administrative staff. The Federal 1 government is
supporting this effort nationwide by providing financial support through Title II-A funds. Some
of the Title II-a funds are to be used for the express purpose of recruiting and retaining highly
qualified staff. The Minidoka County Joint School District #331 will use the designated portion
of their Title II-a funds to support staff members in their efforts to become or remain highly
qualified.

Provisions:

The following provisions will govern the use of Title-II-A funds in the Minidoka County Joint
School District #331:

I. L.O.A./Consultant Specialists

A. Employees teaching in the District on a Letter of Authorization (L.O.A.) or as a


Consultant Specialist will submit a study plan with a signature of approval from
the college or university with which they are working.
B. With the study plan in place, L.O.A.’s or Consultant Specialists may request
financial support from the District for the costs of tuition and books for those
courses which are on their study plan.

II. Classified Employees

A. Classified employees, primarily those seeking a degree in Special Education


because of the shortage of teachers in that field, may also apply for financial
support with the costs associated with their course work from the District’s Title
II-a funds.
B. Classified employees will submit a signed study plan from the college or
university with which they are working to earn a degree.

III. Certificated Employees

A. With the study plan in place, certificated employees may request financial support
from the District for the costs of tuition and books for those courses which are
part of their study plan.
B. Certificated employees working on advanced degrees may also request financial
support from the District by submitting a signed study plan. They may then ask
for support with the costs of tuition and books for those courses which are listed
on their study plan.

IV. All employees except L.O.A.s and Consultant Specialists

A. Classified employees and certificated employees seeking advanced degrees may


receive a maximum of $1000 per semester to help with the costs of tuition and
books, as determined by the District’s Title II-a committee.
B. If the amount of money requested for reimbursement for tuition and books
exceeds the amount budgeted for all employees except L.O.A.s and Consultant
Specialists, then the money will be prorated and distributed accordingly among
those making requests for reimbursement.

V. All employees

A. The District will only support the cost for any single course one time. If the
course is not successfully completed, the employee with be responsible for their
own costs for the repeat class.
B. The District will provide the assistance described above with the understanding
that employees receiving assistance from Title II-A funds will continue to work in
the District for at least two years following the last year in which Title II-a
assistance was received. This requirement is strictly contingent upon the
availability of a position within the district.
THIS REQUIRMENT DOES NOT IN ANY WAY GURARANTEE
CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT WITH THE DISTRICT.
C. If the employee voluntarily leaves the District during the two-year period
following the last year of support from the District’s Title II-a funds, then the
employee will return the full amount of assistance received from the Title II-a
funds during the last two years they received assistance.
D. This policy will become effective during the first semester following adoption,
and will remain in effect as long as the District continues to receive Title II-a
funds for the purpose of recruiting and retaining a highly qualified staff.

Statement of Agreement
I agree, by my signature, to continue to work for the Minidoka County Joint School District #331
for a period of two years following the last year in which I receive compensation for tuition
and/or book costs from District Title II-A funds. This agreement is contingent upon the
availability of a position within the district. I further agree that if I voluntarily leave the
District’s employment during the two-year period following the last year I received
compensation for tuition and/or book costs from the District’s Title II-A funds, I will return to
the District the full amount I received from Title II-a funds for tuition and/or book costs during
the last two years of my employment with the Minidoka County Joint School District #331. All
repayments must be made within thirty (30) days following my voluntary termination of
employment.

BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT I EXPRESS MY SPECIFIC UNDERSTANDING THAT


THIS AGREEMENT DOES NOT GUARANTEE ME CONTINUED MLOYMENT WITH
JOINT SCHOOL DISTRICT #331.
