General Instructions.
1. All questions are compulsory
2. The question paper consists of 34 questions divided into four sections - A, B, C and D.
3. Section contains 10 questions of 1 mark each, which are multiple choice type questions
Section B contains 8 questions of 2 marks each, section C contains 10 questions of 3
marks each and section D contains 6 questions of 4 marks each.
4. There is no overall choice. However, internal choice is provided in one question of two
marks, 3 questions of three marks and two questions of 4 marks .
5. Use of calculators is not permitted.

Section A
Question numbers 1 to 10 carry 1 mark each. For each of the questions 1-10, four alternative
choices have been provided of which only one is correct. You have to select the correct
choice.

Questions from 11 to 18 carry 2 marks each

11. Find the point on Y- axis which is equidistant from (-5, -2) and (3, 2).

12. A die is thrown once. Find (i) P(a number < 9) (ii) P(a number ≥ 2).

13. If the points (4,1) and (-2,3) are equidistant from the point (x, y). Show that 3x – y = 1.

14. The sum of the 4th and 8th terms of an AP is 24 and the sum of the 6th and 10th terms is 44. Find the first
three terms of the AP.

15. A wire looped in the form of a circle of radius 28 cm. It is re-bent into a square form. Determine the
length of the side of the square.

16. A circle is touching the side BC of ∆ABC at P and touching AB and AC produced at Q and R respectively.

18. A cylinder, a cone and a hemi-sphere have equal base and same height. What is the ratio of their

Questions from 19 to 28 carry 3 marks each

19. Sum of first term and the 30th term of an arithmetic progression is 210. What will be the sum of the first
7 terms and the last 7 terms of the above progression?

For which values of n, the nth terms of the two A.P.’s are same.

20. (4,7), (5,6) and (-2,-1) are three points on a circle. Find the co-ordinates of the center.

OR

Three vertices of a parallelogram in order are (3, 4), (3, 8) and (9, 8). Find the fourth vertex.

21. Two circles of radii 10 cm and 17 cm intersect in such a way that the length of the common chord is
16 cm. Find the distance between the centers of the circles.

22. A metal sheet of length 88 cm and breadth 3 m is rolled along its breadth to form a hollow pipe. Then
find the radius and height of that pipe.

23. Construct a ∆ABC in which AB = 5 cm, BC = 12 cm and CA = 13 cm. Construct another ∆PQR similar
to ∆ABC, whose sides are 3 th of the corresponding sides of the given triangle.

24. Show that (2p, 2p), (-2√3 p, 2√3 p) and ( -2p, -2p) form an equilateral triangle.

25. AB and CD are parallel chords of a circle with center O and radius 5 cm. If AB= 6 cm and CD = 8 cm,
find the distance between the two parallel chords.

SECTION D

Questions from 29 to 34 carry 4 marks each


29. A rectangular sheet of paper 132 cm x 88 cm can be made the curved surface of a right circular cylinder
in two ways, either rolling the paper along length or rolling it along breadth. Find the volume of the
cylinders thus formed.
OR
The length and breadth of a room are in the ratio of 4:3. The cost of decorating the walls of a room at the
rate of Rs. 2.50 per sq. m is Rs. 5390. If the height of the room is 5.5 m, find the length of the room.

30. The hypotenuse of a right triangles is 2cm more than the altitude, while the altitude is 7cm more than
the base. Find the length of the hypotenuse.

31. The angle of elevation and depression of the top and bottom of a light house from the top of a building,
60 m high, are 30° and 60° respectively. Find the difference between the heights of the light house and
the building. Also find the distance between the light house and the building.
OR
A man on the top of vertical tower observes that a car is moving directly at an uniform speed towards it.
If it takes 12 minutes for the angle of depression to change from 30° to 45° , how soon will the car reach
the base of the tower?

32. From the top of a cone of base radius 24 cm and height 45 cm a cone of slant height 17 cm is cut off.
What is the volume of the remaining frustum of the cone?

33. Prove that the tangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular

34. A man sold a chair and table together for Rs 1520 thereby making a profit of 25% on the chair and 10%
on the table. By selling them together for Rs 1535 he would have made a profit of 10% on the chair and
25% on the table. Find the cost price of each.


