(Eye of the Portal)

“Whoahh man this is my fifth beer right?” Asked Matthew “Bahahaha naw’ man
naw’ that’s your 20th I’m sure” Matthew then landed on a strange table smelling of saltine
crackers. A woman looked at him and Matthew not being able to function couldn’t really
look back. The woman was munching on saltine crackers which then explained the smell.
“Hmmm so I see you are the one the portal seeks; see the card!” That strange woman
dressed in scarves and thick glasses that made her look like a bug told Matthew who was
all over her table. “Lady you’reeee psyyyycho” “More like psychic!” She replied adding
in a smirk and a wink.
The next morning Matthew awoke with a horrible headache and a lack of his left
shoe. He scratched his head and without any thought grabbed his keys and went outside
to head for his car; leaving his shoe behind, he didn’t care. Matthew arrived home and
went straight to bed.
Matthew woke up in the middle of the night at exactly 12:00, and he went to the
fridge to get some milk. Matthew pranced to his computer to check his schedule for
work. HEADING TO SPACE ON TUESDAY 5:00 PM the computer told him. Matthew
works as an astronaut for NASA as a space researcher. Matthew may have been drunk on
Saturday, but he did make a life for himself.
Two days later Matthew was fully prepared to head into the deep abyss known as
space.

BLAST OFF!
The spaceship was air born. Matthew was taking a five week trip to take pictures
from a safe distance of the black hole that was nearing earth… or so he thought.
Matthew settled down in his small capsule that reminded him of when he once
stayed at a hotel in Tokyo. After five days into the trip he was already coming towards
the black hole and his shuttle planned it to at least be two weeks; the shuttle wasn’t able
to stop. He was heading straight for doom. “ Roger roger! Houston we have a problem!

6
I’m heading towards the black hole and the shuttle won’t stop!” Before Matthew could
say or think any further. VEEEROOM BAM! Matthew traveled through the black hole
and fell right on his bum. Matthew thought he was going to be dead, but what had
occurred to him was beyond amazement. Cars traveling at hyper speed almost running
over him; people walking into home within walls changing colors Matthew had no idea
what was going on. Everyone looked at him not knowing who he was especially because
he looked a lot different. Most everyone was carrying a robotic pet was what it looked
like to him which was companions that could talk to you and share emotions. Matthew
started to walk around and as he walked people starred with bulging eyes. Matthew
walked into a store and asked the female cashier where he was. The woman laughed and
said “Are you a tourist?” Matthew answered. “Sort of, and I have nowhere to go because
I have no idea where I am.” “What’s your name?” the woman asked. “Matthew” The
woman said “Strange name.” “My name is Anthodia” She told Matthew as she smiled
thinking he was rather handsome. “My shift is over if you need somewhere to stay you
can stay with me; my S DF 97 is right around the corner.” Matthew looks at the car like
she was crazy, but he got in trying to blend as much as possible. Anthodia had a screen in
her car that she had told him was a combination of a computer, tv, and telephone.
Matthew was mesmerized by everything in her car especially the speed and ability of it
being so safe.
As they drove away Anthodia and Matthew now passed a store noticing it was a
pet shop, but the pets in side were the same robotic things he saw when he arrived in this
strange new world. “I just love animals, don’t you?” Anthodia asked. “Uhhh…..yeah I
used to have a dog, but my sister forgot to feed him and he ran away.” He replied. “A
dog? Um those went extinct like 50 years ago…at least they did here? Where did you
say you were from again?” she inquired. “Oh well um….where exactly is here again?”
“Well we’re on the super continent of Aeagnap, in District 5, Sector 3, On Jack the
Ripper Walk, in a place that was once known as London, that USED to be a continent
called Europe, on a planet known as Earth, in the Milky Way Galaxy.” Anthodia said in
one huge breath. Noticing Matthew’s confused look she then added “Oh…my father is a
historian, if you’re wondering how I know this.” She said with a sheepish smile.
When they finally arrived at Anthodia’s house, big, eco-friendly, and modern,
Matthew was noticing all kinds of little marvels. Like a grass roof, a rain collection
center, glass walls surrounding the house. As soon as he walked through the walls
surrounding the house the he noticed a drastic change in weather, while it was hot and
humid outside it was warm and breezy inside. “Wow!” Matthew exclaimed. “What’s
wrong?” Anthodia asked. “It’s just…wow…!” Then he did something that stunned her
he started to run around to the most basic house hold appliances. He looked like a kid in a
candy shop. “What’s this button do?” he inquired. “Press it and find out.” Anthodia said.
When he pressed the big red button the walls suddenly started to move and change color.
“Amazing…just amazing!” he kept saying.
After two hours passed, and after she explained to him so much such as, she had a
emotion container she told him was used to collect favorite scents, noises, and memories.
Matthew was truly amazed. Anthodia owned a strange electronic box that was one of her
so called best friends; it enhanced her social life. “Can I take a shower? I feel dirty.”
Matthew asked. After all, Matthew did crash through a black hole. Anthodia laughed and
replied saying. “Of course, the shower is in the back room just enter your name and it

7
will pull up your hygiene records to know how dirty you are.” Matthew tried to make it
seem like she knew what she was talking about, so he just walked to the back room and
entered his name in the so called power shower. Matthew was taking his warm shower
and all of a sudden saw the walls turning black he assumed she pressed the button but it
was so dark. Then appeared a button; Matthew had no idea what to do; he pressed it.
“Ow my head. What where am I? My shoe?” Matthew could’ve sworn he already
went through this, but he went straight home and started to plan out the future for his 20th
century world. 21st century came running along, and Matthew was a billionaire no longer
needing NASA, when he met a woman named Daisy that looked strangely like Anthodia
which was the reason he was deeply in love with her, Daisy just so happened to be
Anthodia, and they got married and lived happily ever after.

Note: an anthodia is part of a daisy.
