ADMISSION NOTIFICATION FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2011


On-line Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the below
mentioned programmes for the academic session 2011 as per the eligibility criteria given in
the Prospectus 2011.

ISSUANCE OF PROSPECTUS
The Prospectus 2011, bearing a distinct Serial Number, shall be available from
28.02.2010 against a cash payment of Rs. 250/- at the University Information/Sale
Counters listed below. All the Information/Sale counters shall remain open on all days
between 9.30 am and 6.00pm from 28.02.2011 to 09.03.2011. Each copy of Prospectus -
2011 has been given a distinct Serial number (on page No. 150) which is mandatory for
the on-line submission of Application Form. Candidates are in their own interest advised
to obtain printed receipt for the money paid as cost of Prospectus. They are advised not to
allow others to use the Serial Nos. allotted to their Prospectus and Cash Receipt, as they
shall need both these serial nos. for generating their on-line application form.

SUBMISSION OF ON-LINE APPLICATION


Candidates are, in their own interest, advised to peruse the Prospectus 2011
thoroughly before deciding about the programmes/courses they want to apply for
admission. After selecting the programmes/courses in which they would like to seek
admission, the applicants are advised to follow the below given steps at any Internet
Facility/Cyber Café/University Information Centre for submitting their application
forms. Only one Application Form is required to be submitted for all the
programmes/courses for which the candidates want to apply.

 The candidates shall access [on the internet] the official website of the University,
“www.kashmiruniversity.net/www.kashmiruniversity.ac.in” and click on ‘Admission
2011’ on the University’s Homepage.
 After opening the ‘Admission 2011’ sub-page they shall click on ‘Application Form’
and enter Serial Number of the Prospectus 2011 (written on page 150 of the
Prospectus 2011) and Serial No. of the cash Receipt for generating the on-line
Application Form and submit the same after filling it completely. Students registered
with University of Kashmir from 2006 onwards can get their particulars automatically
extracted from the Database by entering their Registration Number.
 Once the submitted Application Form is accepted, a distinct ‘Form number’ will be
displayed on the monitor, which needs to be noted by the candidates for use in future.
 After the completion of the acceptance of the Application, the candidates shall open
their Application Form by entering the Form number and Date of Birth (DOB) so as
to download the auto-generated Application Form and Pay-in-Slip bearing the Serial
Number as reflected on the web generated Application Form.
 Only the Pay-in-Slip provided with the downloaded Application Form and bearing the
same serial number as on the main application form should be used for depositing
the requisite fee.
 Entrance fee per programme is Rs. 245/=. A candidate is required to deposit the entire
amount of fee chargeable (for all programmes s/he is applying @ Rs. 245/= per
programme) through one and the same Pay-in-Slip at any branch of the J&K Bank
Ltd.
 The self generated Application Form and Counterfoil (University copy) of the Pay-
in-Slip together with the attested copies of necessary certificates (listed in
Prospectus) shall have to be deposited by the applicant by or before the last date of
submission (09.03.2011) at any of the Information/Sale Centers of the University
located in different degree colleges or in one of the Postgraduate
Departments/Institutes of the University (located at the Main Campus Hazratbal),
where s/he is an applicant, against a proper receipt.
 Candidates seeking admission under reserved categories shall carry their original
category certificate along with them at the time of deposition of application form
and show it to the concerned official on demand. However, Original Certificates
need not to be attached with the application Form in any case.
 For M P Ed Programme only those applicants who qualify Physical Efficiency Test
shall be eligible to appear in the Entrance Test. The date, time and venue of the
Physical Efficiency Test shall be notified separately. However, this condition does
not apply to in-service candidates.
 The Admit Cards can be downloaded from the official website
“www.kashmiruniversity.net/www.kashmiruniversity.ac.in” only after reconciliation
of the candidate’s fee is made with the J & K Bank Ltd.
 Status of the Admit Card can be checked from the official website of the University by
entering the Form Number and Date of Birth.
 The allotted Roll Number, Schedule of Examination and Centre of Examination will
be communicated to applicants also through SMS, if the facility is available.
 No candidate shall be allowed to enter the Examination Centre without producing an
Admit Card and Identity Card.
 In case of "Reserved Categories" if a candidate is eligible to apply for admission
under more than one category, he/she shall be required to choose only one reserved
category for one programme under which he/she would like to be considered, which
shall be final, and unchangeable. However, such a candidate shall be at liberty to
choose a different category in respect of another programme in which he / she is
desirous to seek admission. For example, if a candidate is eligible under RBA, NCC
as well as Sports categories, he shall have to choose only one of the three categories
under which he shall compete for admission for a particular programme. Say, if he is
an applicant for PG programmes in A, B, C and D subjects, he may compete in all the
Courses only under one of these three categories (RBA, NCC or Sports, whichever he
likes) or he may compete (say for instance) under RBA for A, under NCC for B, under
Sports for C and under RBA for D. He is not, however, permitted to compete under
more than one category for a single programme; i.e. he cannot for instance apply
under RBA as well as NCC for a single programme.
 Candidates belonging to Gojjar & Bakarwal Category shall be required to clearly
specify whether admission is being sought under 'Scheduled Tribe Category’ or under
'Gojjar & Bakarwal Category'.
 A candidate having certificate “Resident of Areas adjoining the Line of Actual Control
(ALC)” shall be considered under the Category “Resident of Backward Area”.
 A candidate can simultaneously pursue a full-time P G Programme and one part-time
(Morning/Evening) Certificate Course.
 For admission to the programmes offered at the University Main Campus, Hazratbal
as well as at University Satellite Campus/es (South Campus, Fatehgarh, Anantnag
and/or North Campus, Delina, Baramulla) and/or some affiliated Colleges (details
available in the Prospectus 2011), the applicant has to indicate his/her order of
preference for the Campus/Institution where s/he would like to study in case of her/his
admission to the said programme. The preference recorded will be final and
irrevocable.
 Applicants are advised to follow all the University Notifications/Announcements
regarding admission to various programmes/courses, which shall be invariably
uploaded on the website and also notified in the local dailies. The status of the
Application, Admit card, Centre notice, date of Entrance Test, Result, status, etc., can
also be from the official website of the University www.kashmiruniversity.net.
 Candidates already possessing a Masters degree in one subject are eligible to apply
for admission to another PG programme or a Diploma/Certificate Course, if s/he
fulfills the eligibility conditions prescribed by the University. However, such
candidates shall not be entitled to accommodation in the University Hostels.
 The eligible candidates shall be required to appear in an Entrance Test (if needed) to
be conducted by the university for the purpose where they shall have to attempt sixty
multiple choice objective type questions carrying a total of sixty marks uniformly
spread over the prescribed syllabus of the subject (already displayed on the official
website).
 Notification inviting applications for admission against self-financed seats shall be
issued separately.
 Admission Notification in respect of other programmes offered by the University
shall be issued separately in due course of time.
 Notification regarding Centre Notice and Dates of Entrance Test shall be issued
separately.
