GOOD GOLFING DAY!

The 16 players that made the cut for the 14th match of the
Sales and Marketing 2006 ATAG season were glad to find that the front nine was a
Manager lot more accommodating than last week’s punishing back nine
“Pool Bar Dave” Nichols as evidenced by the number of good scores posted. Despite
scattered afternoon showers throughout the metro area, the
Editorial Assistant Ansley in town nine was able to dodge the rain pellets until 7:15
open pm, when a 25 minute rain shower affected only the last two
holes of the third and fourth groups. To start the match, the
following teams were assembled by order of arrival on the first
tee with the first group teeing off promptly at 5:00 pm:

15 UNDER GRABS THE BARLEY!
1912 INCORRECT SCORE CARD
196 Montgomery Ferry Dr
Atlanta, Ga 30309
SUBMITTED!
Team 2 members Doug Gooding, Mike Gutt, P.J. Wade,
and Danny Morris all shot below their handicaps to blow away
the field with a near record 15 under. Although the players
believed they had tied the all time record of 16 under with
their stellar play, and so celebrated, a next day review of the
score card by the Commissioner (this is done every week)
discovered a one point addition error in the team totals.
Normally the submission of an incorrect score card calls for a
disqualification, but in this case, since the individual players
scores were recorded correctly, and because it would be rather
difficult, not to mention unsightly, for the players to return their
bounty, the Commissioner only issued a stern warning and a
reminder to all teams to check the math before submitting
the score card (especially if the score keeper is Morris). The
day’s patrons turned out to be the first arriving Team 1
members C. Y. Young, Ron Majors, Brad Reese, and Brooks
Cowles whose best ball score of 4 under earned them the
right to make the formal presentation to the victors.

GUTT WINS LOW NET PURSE

AGAIN! PLAYERS DEMAND REVIEW
BY HANDICAP COMMITTEE!
Mike Gutt, reportedly a 19 handicap, won the Low Net purse
of sixteen bucks by posting a round of 41, for a net 5 under,
edging out by one stroke Bill Meagher, Danny Morris, P. J.
Wade, and Don Nichols for the plenteous prize money. This
followed his win two weeks prior when he posted a score of 40
—net 6 under. At the players request, the money hungry Mr.
Gutt (hereinafter known as the “defendant”) has been called
before the Handicap Committee to provide documented
evidence that he is not, in fact, a professional sandbagger as
his two recent victories might suggest. The Handicap
Committee has also requested from the archives of the
Ansley Golf Club a record of all scores posted by the
defendant over the last ten years.

MEAGHER RETURNS TO FORM TO

GRAB LOW GROSS! YOUNG HAS
BAD DAY!
In single digiter competition, the honorary Low Gross was won
by six handicapper Bill Meagher whose bogey free round,
enhanced by one birdie, put him at the top of the leader board
with a one under 35, narrowly edging out four handicapper
Jim Bernhardt by one stroke and P.J. Wade by two shots.
Bernhardt later lamented that he had eight birdie putt
opportunities but managed to sink only one. The day’s high
score was earned by sixteen handicapper C. J. Young who
tripled and doubled his way to having a bad day with a score of
48 and helping his team qualify as the day’s patrons.

NO SHOTS OF THE DAY, JUST GOOD

GOLF!
There were really no “shots of the day” reported because, as
someone noted, such shots are normally born out of necessity
after making a poor shot. Jim Bernhardt did receive honorable
mention for his left handed 100 ft punch out on # 5 to enable
his saving par, and Don Nichols was crowing about his 270
yard tee shot to the top of the hill on # 5, but other than that
it was just good golf with a lot of fairways and greens resulting

OTHER TIDBITS:
• There was not much to report on the social activities this
week as most of the players had to leave shortly after the
conclusion of the match including this writer, and Tim Martin
was not there to place free rounds on the table to
encourage the players to linger longer.

• This week’s bad boy was Marty Arnold who was a “no
notice no show”, apparently because his butler neglected to
wake him from his afternoon nap. Nevertheless, under ATAG by
laws, he now joins other ATAG bad boys on ATAG death row
where, should this grievous offense be repeated, he shall suffer
“death by boogada boogada”.
Thought For The Day:

customary freebie. Oddly, he was called away on business and
was unable to attend this week’s match. Nevertheless, look for
his ‘accounts payable” column to be cleared at his next ATAG
