Principal’s Message

Every time I mention weather in my message, it only seems to get worse outside! Hopefully it
starts to look more like spring sooner than later.

We had a very exciting month at Forest Green! Our Family Dance was a huge success and I
really want to thank all of the staff, students, and ESPECIALLY parents that organized this
awesome event. I truly believe that as a community we can really achieve some amazing
things for our students, and this event exemplifies that. This only helped us to get to know
each other better and help to build on already strong relationships. Thanks again for your in-
volvement and leadership in this initiative.

We have just completed our first ever round of “Student-Led Conferences” and we are very
proud of our students for taking the lead in sharing their own learning. This, as with many
other things in schools, is a learning process, we would really value your input on how this
process could be improved for both parents and students. There is no perfect solution for any-
thing, but the more we work together, the closer we can come. We would love your thoughts.

March 2011 Newsletter

Our students had a great time watching the HOJA group in our school this past month, and you
can still hear their CD’s in the classes. Thanks to our staff that ensure we have some really
interesting events set up for a students that continuously build an understanding of the culture.

With such busy mornings and afternoons at our school, we really appreciate your help in mak-
ing the parking lot a much safer place for our students to be. Thanks for continuing to follow
the pylons to ensure there is less traffic where our students walk. It has made it much safer for
our kids.

With three months left of school, we are looking forward to the Hip Hop group joining us in
May, with Identity Day happening in June. Thanks to the staff that are helping to organize
these days for our kids. They are greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone has a restful spring break and we look forward to seeing you return well rested
and ready to go in April!

Sincerely,
George Couros

How did we do?

We’d like your feedback. Student-led conferences are meant to have the child take
the lead and share their learning with you. How did you feel about this new way of
having “interviews”?
