A die is thrown twice and the sum of 3
numbers appearing is observed to be 7.
What is the conditional probability that the
number 2 has appeared at least once ?
3. (a) Find the distance between the point 3
(-1, —5, — 10) and the point of inter section
x-2 _y+ 1 z-2
of the line 12 with the
3 4

(b) In a certain experiment to compare two type 4
of animal foods A and B, the following
results of increase in weights were observed
in animals :

Animal No. : 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

For both type of foods, same set of animals

were tested. Can we conclude at 5% level
of significance that there is no significant
difference in both type of foods A and B.

You may like to use the following values :

(t14,0.05 —1.76,t7,0.05 = 1.90, t15,0.05 = 1.75).

5. (a) The difference of two numbers is 100. The 3

square of larger one exceeds 5 times the
square of the smaller one by an amount
which is maximum. Find the numbers.

(b) Consider a population of 6 units with values 7

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Write down all possible
samples of size 2 from this population.
Obtain the sampling distribution of the
sample mean. Compute mean and variance
of the sampling distribution obtained.

6. (a) Find the angle between vectors u and v, 2
Where a =2 i— j+4k and v=3i+j+k.

(b) The weekly wages of 2000 workmen are 3

normally distributed with mean wage of
Rs. 70 and wage standard deviation of
Rs. 5. Estimate the number of workers
whose weekly wages are :
Between Rs. 70 and Rs. 71
More than Rs. 72
You may like to use the following values
4:1) (0.4) = 0.6554, 43. (0.2) = 0.5793,

expenditure X (in thousand rupees) and the
Corresponding sales Y (in ten thousand
rupees) :

X 10 12 15 20 14
Y 14 15 20 25 10

Find the coefficient of correlation between

the marketing expenditure and the
corresponding sales.

or false. Give reasons for your answer :
The rule given below is a function,
f : {2, 3} --> {4, 7) : f(2)= 4, f(2) = 7, f(3) = 7.
For two mutually exclusive events A and B,
P(A U B) = P(A) + P(B) — P(A (1 B).
Probability of committing a type II - error is
called the level of significance.
