ISLAM

• 2nd largest religion.

• Islam ‫ مالسل‬is the monotheistic religion articulated by the Qur’an, and by the
teachings and normative example (called the Sunnah and Hadith) of Muhammad, the
last Prophet of Islam.

• The word Islam means ‘submission to God’.

• An adherent of Islam is called a Muslim.

• Muslims believe that God is one and incomparable.

• Muslims also believe that Islam is the complete and universal version of a primordial
faith.

• Muslims maintain that previous messages and revelations have been partially changed or
corrupted over time.

• But consider the Qur'an to be both unaltered and the final revelation from God.

• Religious concepts and practices include the five pillars of Islam.

• They are (1) the shahadah (creed), (2) daily prayers (salat), (3) fasting
during Ramadan (sawm), (4) almsgiving (zakat), and (5) the pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj)
at least once in a lifetime.

CHRISTIANITY

• Largest religion.

• Christianity (from the Ancient Greek word Χριστός, Khristos, "Christ", literally
"anointed one") is a monotheistic religion.

• Based on the life and teachings of Jesus as presented in canonical gospels and other New
Testament writings.

• Adherents of the Christian faith are known as Christians.

• Mainstream Christianity teaches the love or Agape.


• It also teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, God having become human and the savior of
humanity.

COMMON BELIEFS

• Believe that God has created the entire universe out of nothing and that He dominates all
that exists with His omnipotence.

• Believe that God has created man and living things in a miraculous way and that man
possesses a soul granted him by God.

• Believe that besides Jesus, Moses or Muhammad, God sent many prophets such as Noah,
Abraham, Isaac and Joseph throughout history, and they love all these prophets.

• Believe in resurrection, Heaven and Hell and angels, and that God has created our lives
with a certain destiny.

• In addition, both religions believe and agree on the life of Abraham and the stories of
Jesus, David, and Moses.

MAJOR DIFFERENCES

Christians believe that, Jesus is the Son of God Muslims believe that Jesus was not the Son of
