Tactical Mindset – Duty, Discipline and Devotion:
A tactical mindset is a personal, private and individualistic
perception of extraordinary self-interest. This is positive and
proactive posture for interpersonal interaction with others. That is
to say, when you leave your “safe house”. Family, friends and those
you frolic with, naturally require different options for defensive
tactics. You have to decide that in both a responsible and
accountable way. For you though, to put it simply in the trouble-
free basic conception of contemporary post-modernism, you are
responsible for your own security, safety and survivability. Tactical
asserts the psycho-dynamic posture or well-formed healthy self-
reliance. Not a collectivist sense of distorted entitlement based on
the laborious efforts of others who work hard at their own survival.
Being tactical is relative to personality, physicality and
spirituality of an individualized manifestation in private choices. It
is organizing, planning and implementing plans for social survival
for the possibility of adverse conditions. These come in many
forms. So, you got to stop whining, droning and sniveling about
your individual issues, social life and particular excessive self-
indulgent predicament. That said, while you might have a
responsibility for others under your supervision, care, or counsel,
you still have a supremely divine responsibility to yourself. Stay
safe, be vigilant and keep prepared for the probability of subsequent
eventualities. You never know where sinister individuals will act
out their sense of extreme self-interest.
On top of that, forget the socio-psycho-babble psychic
epistemology about the external forces that “make you do things”.
Remember, it’s not what goes from the outside in; it’s what comes
for the inside out. You create your purposes, intentions and
subsequent actions you freely and knowingly commit. You’re the
only one who makes you do things, good, bad or indifferent, evil
and wickedly sinful. No body else, and no ifs, ands or buts. Just you
and your grandiose need for self-gratification at the expense of
others. Meanwhile, many of us classical criminologists, or rational
theorists, get sick and tired of the constant noisy, boring and
wearisome “round up the usual suspects” of clever deception,
distraction and sleight of hand. This relates to myriad fallacies of
inference that are the customary mode of social communicative
intercourse.
Don’t fall prey to deterministic thinking. That is to say, this is the
fanciful conjecture that often suggests people can’t control
themselves, they some how “snap”, or “lose it”, and bad things
happen. Please, don’t insult the practitioner criminologist’s
intelligence with those mythologies. Even though society loves the
seduction of myth, magic and metaphor, you don’t have to believe
them. Think for yourself and insist on applying your most advanced
set of critical thinking skills. Okay, maybe you have none, so give
up, and rely on others to protect your backside. Instead, to contrary,
if you do, demand proof, insist on evidence, and weigh personal
opinion of others with extreme caution.
For instance, when talking about terrorists, forget the “mud hut”
theory. See them as thugs, opportunists, and frustrated common
criminals who refuse to be civil to the rest of us. As to the extremists,
any one can use a belief system like religion as a cover story. The
media relishes in it. Terrorists are criminals who are out for personal
gain in spite of the dangers that may affect non-combatants in the
process. Oh sure, you’ve heard the trite cliché, ‘one man’s terrorist is
another’s freedom fighter’. Well, believe what you want, because in
the long run, most people do exactly that regardless of the evidence.
And, there are other mystifying conjectures postulated by “experts”.
Yeah, sure, you’re heard it before, the “devil made you do it”. Or,
it’s not your fault; you were maltreated as a child. Better yet, you
were abducted by aliens and they performed experiments on you. Uh
huh, whatever. You know the drill. No sooner has the criminal been
caught, than apologists arrive on scene with instant alibis, excuses
and justifications for the aftermath of horrors. That’s one reason why
we refer to multiple crime commissions as “serial” this or “serial”
that. Sounds sexier that way and conjures neat sound bites for news
reporting. Don’t forget the sensational use of clever metaphors. You
can even throw in the word “conspiracy” and people really get
excited.
In brief, no one else has the responsibility to cover your backside.
It’s you and no one else. Whether physically, mentally or in
spirituality, you alone are responsible for yourself. To develop a
tactical mindset, regardless of age, gender, national origin, or
lifestyle means tough self-sufficiency. Such a notion connotes
discipline in all aspects in the total being of the individual
person. Just consider that danger, injury and death are a trinity
of malevolent intentions willfully contrived by other people.
You may not be the target but you may be potential collateral
damage if you get in the way.
