ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The demand for energy is growing at a steady pace to meet the requirements of the fast
growing Indian economy. The emerging growth in the infrastructure sector not only requires
substantial funding but also the professional capabilities of the highest order, in various
spheres for effective planning and implementation of the projects. University of Petroleum &
Energy Studies with an objective to add impetus to much needed knowledge sharing and
enrichment in various areas of project management is organising a 4 day residential MDP
titled “Project Management: Benchmarks Redefined ”.
The residential MDP designed for industry and academia aims to address the mosaic of
project management concerns and issues through presentations by eminent project
management professionals and practitioners. Seasoned speakers from energy and
infrastructure sector promise lively and insightful discussions on challenges in project
management and the way forward there to.

PROGRAMME DIRECTOR
Dr. M. Ramachandran is a doctorate in Project Management from IIM
Lucknow. He has also received his M. Phil. in Economics Planning
from University of Glasgow, UK.
An administrator with a difference, former Secretary, Ministry of Urban
Development, Government of India, Dr. M. Ramachandran is currently
acting as advisor to U.P. Government.
He joined IAS UP Cadre in 1972 and has served Government of India as Joint Secretary,
Ministry of Shipping and also held the position of Board of Directors of Shipping Corporation of
India, Cochin Shipyard and National Waterways Authority of India.
Dr. M. Ramachandran was selected to be on deputation to United Nations Development
Programme from 1986 to 1992 where he specialized in Projects and Programmes.
His postings in the State of Uttarakhand include Principal Secretary, School Education, Higher
Education, Technical Education, Principal Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Additional Chief
Secretary and Infrastructure Development Commissioner in the State.
