Ashoka Fellows Urula Sladek and Prigi Arisandi win
the Goldman Environmental Award
German Fellow, Ursula Sladek was honored for her work
in creating Germany’s first cooperatively-owned renewable
power company. The other recipient was Ashoka Fellow
Prigi Arisandi from Indonesia who initiated a local
movement to stop industrial pollution from flowing into his
city's river that provides drinking water to three million

The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem
Recognizes Ashoka Fellow Ola Abu Al-Ghaib as an
International Woman of Courage
On April 18, American Consul General Daniel Rubinstein
presented Ashoka Fellow Ms. Ola Abu Al-Ghaib,
Chairwoman of the Stars of Hope Society, with a special
certificate. This was in recognition of her efforts to
improve the status of disabled women within the
Palestinian Territories, while also raising awareness of their

Ghulam Sughra Solangi Received the International
Women of Courage Award 2011
In a ceremony last month at the State Department,
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and First Lady Michelle
Obama presented the annual International Women of
Courage awards to 10 women from around the world.
One of these 10 women is Pakistani Fellow Ghulam Sughra
Solangi. She is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of
Marvi Rural Development Organization, a non-profit

The Genographic Legacy Fund

The fund aims to empower indigenous communities on a
local level while raising awareness of their challenges and
pressures on a global level. Reflecting the values and
missions of the Genographic Project support from the fund

The World Challenge is a global competition aimed at

The 2012 Ford Motor International Fellowship

The purpose of this annual fellowship is to provide
education and support to community leaders engaged in
the nonprofit sector. Applications are now being accepted
from community leaders who are citizens and residents of
Albania, Bolivia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador,
Haiti, India, Israel, Mongolia, Peru, Tunisia and Zambia.

The global anti-corruption organization wishes to

corrupt, to undermine the determined efforts of corrupt

The Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD) has made

The Inter-American Foundation

The Inter-American Foundation (IAF) is an independent
agency of the United States government that provides

The Human Rights program concentrates on the defense
and promotion of human rights in Latin America. It does
not encourage the submission of unsolicited proposals.

The Open Society Institute's program invites grant

accordance with its project aims. Those aims are to

Proposals from Roma activists are being solicited to
support work on questions of social policy, human rights

These grants are funding international travel costs
associated with journalistic reporting projects on topics
and regions of global importance, with an emphasis on
