Ford revs up for 2009 with launch of new Protection Program


A satisfaction-assured, worry-free service that delivers value beyond Industry standards

JAKARTA, January 28, 2008 – Ford Motor Indonesia (FMI), in alignment with its ‘Make Every
Day Exciting’ theme, gears up to start the year with the official launch of its most recent
commitment in providing the best service for its customers. The Extended Warranty program.
Indonesia’s first comprehensive, world-class extended service, guarantees the widest range of
protection programs aimed at reducing risks from unexpected expenses, thus ensuring peace of
mind and driving confidence for customers.

Will Angove, President Director of FMI, commented on the warranty program, “According to
research by J.D. Powers Asia Pacific, FMI managed to jump to number two in after-sales
service last year. This year, we aim to perform even better, as the first ATPM in Indonesia that
introduces an Extended Warranty program; we believe it will greatly enhance customer
satisfaction and the Ford ownership experience.”

Extended Warranty is a service from Ford Solutions, enabling customers to enjoy service that
surpasses the original Factory Warranty, with the validity period extended to 5 years or 150,000
km at the maximum, whichever comes first. The service targets customers buying new cars, as
well as those currently using Ford vehicles. The Extended Warranty is targeted to all customers
who have possesses a Ford vehicle within the last 30 months, or show mileage maximum of up
to 90,000 km. At the same time, customers who have bought Ford cars within the last 30 days
or driven them up for up to 2.000 km and those who have brought Ford cars within the last 24
months with the mileage maximum 60.000 km are eligible to buy the Extended Warranty with
various and competitive price.

Customers will be able to enjoy a stress-free driving experience, knowing they are covered for
unexpected spare-parts related expenses that may happen out on the road.”, explains Will
Angove. “The Ford Solutions program is a sound investment, which is offered by all of our
dealership across the country, guaranteeing that the car will always be maintained in prime
condition, and will therefore always deliver top performance. The Extended Warranty greatly
exceeds the industry standard 3-year/100,000 kilometer Factory Warranty, thus adding greater
value to the vehicle.”

With this service, all Ford customers can avail of a vast range of benefits: services available at
all Ford’s authorised outlets across the country; unlimited number of warranty-covered spare-
parts orders; no excess payment; protection from rising costs of parts and labour due to a
single, up-front payment; protection from operating defects; all servicing performed by trained
Ford technicians.

The Extended Warranty service covers all mechanical and electrical failures, labor costs, and
taxes related to the repairs. It does not, however, cover normal wear and tear of parts,
scheduled servicing and related items, or repairs on account of accidents.

Customers buying this package need not worry about the expiry date of the original warranty
(spare-part-failure related risks), and can avoid unexpected costs which they haven’t budgeted
for. Most importantly, the Extended Warranty service is transferable, which helps increase the
re-sale value of cars.
