MGA PANUGDAON HALIN SA BINTANA SANG PAROKYA
Ang parokya may kahapon, karon kag
pala-abuton. May iya siya nga panahon
suno sa lakat sang adlaw kag may ara
man siya nga kahigayunan nga labaw pa
sa adlaw kag gab-i kay siya naga-alagad
sa ginharian nga wala sing katapusan.
Sa kalabanan nga naga-alagad sa
simbahan indi siya mahimo nga
palangabuhian. Madamo sa naga-alagad
sa simbahan wala sing sueldo o
sinuhulan. Ang ila ginahimo kag
ginatan-aw amo ang pagpasalamat sa
Diyos kag Iya simbahan. May mga utod
kita sang una nga may kabalaka sa
kabuhi sang paroyka nga nagdonar sang
ila pagkabutang para sa pala-abuton
sang parokya. May makahas kag
mahigko nga konsiyensiya nga
angkunon sang iban sa indi matinlo nga
patakaran.
Madamo ang mga programa nga
ginapatigayon sang parokya suno sa
mga patakaran sang Konsilyo Plenaryo
sang Pilipinas kag Arkidiyosesis agud
ma-alagaran sang mga katapo sa
parokya: edukasyon paagi sa katekesis,
bulig sa mga kubos (PSAM), pagsimba
(worship), BEC cluster meetings, bulig
sa pamilya (family life formation). Ang
kina-andan kag pahapos lang, kuhaon
ang porsiyento sa kolekta. Nga-a indi
ma-maximize ang resources sang
parokya? Ang misyon sang Finance
Council ang pagpangita “resources.”
Ang natabo gingamhan ang kinaandan

Council.
Ang mga pagtililipon (meetings) sa

Balaan nga Kasulatan kag ang

“But my religion is not the main reason
for my opposition. My objections spring
largely from conscience — which tells
me a grievous wrong is about to be
inflicted on an unwary population by a
half-baked bill being rushed through
the kitchen.
Many of us feel compelled to speak up,
because we see the imminence of being
ensnared in an ill-conceived
hodgepodge of a law that goes against
not only the Constitution and the
religious beliefs of the majority but also,
in my case at least, of conscience.”
LEGITIMIZING CRIME: The passage
of HB 4244 as now worded — and for
which President Noynoy Aquino has
announced support — will legitimize
many of the crimes being committed
under the aegis of the state using
taxpayers’ money.
One such offense is the violation of the
constitutional mandate under Section12
of Article II which says, “It (the state)
shall equally protect the life of the
mother and the life of the unborn from
conception.”
Government personnel commit the
crime by, among other means, the
wanton distribution and use of artificial
contraceptives with abortifacient
effects, thereby killing the unborn
human being by preventing its
implantation in the womb for normal
nourishment and growth.
The Congress and the President seek to
legitimize that massacre of the unborn
— with taxpayers footing the bloody
bill.
President Aquino now blames
population growth for the poverty
around us while neglecting other means
to mitigating the problem. Has he
forgotten his campaign battle cry
“Kung walang corrupt, walang
mahirap!”?
DISCRIMINATION: It is unfortunate
that Catholics who stand up to oppose
the RH bills as now worded are derided
and their religious beliefs ridiculed.
How come not a whimper is heard
when pastors of another religious sect
instruct their members to vote for
candidates who — in exchange for the
members’ votes — had pledged support
for the sect’s advocacies and appointees
to key government posts?
How come another set of laws, such as
in the contracting of multiple
marriages, is applied when it involves
members of another religion with
jihadist tendencies? Why are they
entitled to have their own special laws,
and in effect their own republic within
our republic?
But when we Catholics and our bishops
object to what we think would be a
grievously faulty law, we are ridiculed
and slapped with the principle of
separation of the Church and the State
(which does not apply)?
ABORTIFACIENT: My Postscript last
Sunday called attention to Section 12,
Article II, of the Constitution declaring
it an obligation of the state to protect
“the life of the unborn from conception.”
That piece laid out, clearly I think, that:
1. Conception refers to the moment of
fertilization, or when the sperm and the
ovum unite and form a distinct and
individual human being.
2. Upon conception, that human being
starts enjoying rights even while still in
the mother’s body, including the right
to life and state protection, guaranteed
by no less than the Constitution.
3. Snuffing out that human life by
deliberate artificial means would be
killing it, or aborting it, a criminal act
under existing laws.
4. Many of the artificial birth control
methods and contraceptives sought to
be purchased with public funds and
distributed and used by the government
have proven abortifacient affects that
induce abortion, which is a crime.
The above train of reasoning is
anchored on the premise that human
life begins at conception.”

OF THE 5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER YR.A

“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Do not
let your hearts be troubled. You
have faith in God; have faith also
in me.”. . . “Jesus said to him,’ I am
the way, the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except
through me.”. . . “Amen. Amen I
say to you, whoever believes in me
will do the works that I do and will
do greater ones than these, because
I am going to the Father.”
(Jn. 14:1-2; 6; 12)
Faith, objectively speaking, is a gift from
God. It is body or set of divine beliefs
endowed on us by God together with hope
and charity through the sacrament of
baptism to be believed and lived for our
salvation. As such, it is no ordinary gift
but a divine gift. It is a gift once accepted
demands appropriate response.
On the other hand, “faith”, in its
subjective sense, “is the recipient’s
response to this body of divine revealed
beliefs.” It further means as in the words
of the council fathers of the Vatican II
Council document “Verbum Dei” as,
“man’s complete submission of his
intellect and his will to God. With his
whole being man gives his assent to God
the revealer. Sacred Scriptures, the said
document declares, calls this human
response to God, the author of revelation,
‘the obedience of faith’.” (CCC No. 143)
The gospel of the fifth Sunday of Easter
tells us that it was the eve of Jesus’
darkest hour as he and his disciples were
eating their final meal. His heart was in
turmoil. He knew fully well that within
few hours his earthly life will be taken
away from him. Despite of his knowledge
of the ghastly death that awaits him, He
still told his disciples: “Do not let your
hearts be troubled. Have faith in God and
have faith in me.”
Albert Cylwicki in his book “His Words
Resound”, writes that though Jesus’
words were some of the most reassuring
words in the Holy Scriptures, yet for the
many of us, they aren’t reassuring at all.
These words, in fact, taken in the ambit
of the present state of affairs are but
surrealistic. How can Jesus tell us that we
should worry at all? Can He not feel and
see all the troubles that afflict us?
Both in the national, local and personal
levels, our life as Catholic Christians is
being threatened by the “R.H. Bill No
5043” known by so many names but more
popularly known as the “Comprehensive
Health Bill”. Fiery debates for its approval
are now raging in the hallowed Chamber
of Congress effecting polarities not only
among our legislators but also among us
Filipinos. The tranquility and unity of the
nation are greatly disturbed for both the
opposing camps are “honing their axes”
and “strengthening their ranks” to gain
the upper hand vital for the disapproval
or the passage of the said bill into a law.
On the personal level, we too have our
own individual troubles being effected by
this bill. Our life, i.e., of the living and of
those of the unborn, are being threatened
by death and penal sanctions, as well as
our moral life. Some of you have troubles
with your marriage. Some of you have
troubles with your children, with your
parents, with your boss and even with
your friends. Adding to these real troubles
are some imaginary ones. We imagine
failures and losses and we are afraid. We
imagined criticisms and rejection and we
become paralyzed. It is true that all these
things may not happen at all. Yet, they
upset our peace of mind.
Jesus has perceived the existential
reality of these problems. He already
knew each one of them. Thus, His words
spoken during the Last Supper were the
most relevant and reassuring words for
us Filipino faithful. He had undergone
almost all these troubles when he was still
walking the earth.
He had troubles with the Pharisees who
twisted His words to make them look like
lies. He had troubles with his disciples
who understood so little of what he taught
of them. He had troubles with Judas who
betrayed him, so too with Peter who
denied him thrice and finally with his
imminent sufferings and death on the
cross.
Despite of all these troubles Jesus was still
able to say calmly and surely to his
disciples, “Do not let your hearts be
troubled. Have faith in God and faith in
me.” (Jn 14:2) This faith is a declaration
that when worst comes to worst, we will
never be destroyed by what we are afraid
of no matter what it is. Our faith is an
affirmation that even if we are left alone
by ourselves there is somebody who will
lead us to the place Jesus has prepared
for us for “wherever he is there we may
be too”.
These words of Jesus are not an escape
from reality but an assurance of his
abiding presence with us come what may,
particularly this “R.H Bill “No.5043.
Jesus, however needs our cooperation.

sa ila asawa.

 Kami nga mga Pamatan-on
“STAND FIRM IN FAITH”
Last April 26 - 29, 2011, youth from different Archdoiceses of Region VI and
Romblon made a history at the Archdiocese of Kalibo, Aklan as they hosted the
Regional Youth Day (RYD) 2011. The theme of the said event was “Stand Firm
in Faith... Do All Works with Love.”
Stand firm in faith or in tagalog: “Panindigan sa Pananalampalataya,” as Bishop
Pablo David transalated it. He said, “Kung gagawa ka na rin lang ng isang
bagay, gawin mo ito ng buong puso.” He is right! If we would do something, let’s
do it wholeheartedly so that we would never regret in the end. If we strongly
believe in God, we must also believe in ourselves that we can do all things even
the impossible one. If we serve God, we serve Him in the best way we can
because God, Himself, gave His life to save us and He had never doubted it.
“I owe Him, I have faith in Him..” It is what we always say, isn’t it? But my
question is, does your faith in Him ends? Did you just owe Him because your
wish has been granted or you just need something from Him? Did you always
thank Him for the gift of life? Or you just always question Him with the
imperfections in your life?
We, Roman Catholics, believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven
and Earth (as what we often pray)… But in times of trouble or when you feel that
the world is against you, to whom do you blame these things? Isn’t it to God
whom you believe? Some of us just pray because we need something but not
Him. Sometimes you forget to thank God for the blessings He has given us and
worst of all, you are too demanding to Him. Aren’t you ashame of yourself? He
is God who created us, not a genie who granted all your wishes.
Isaiah 7:9(NIV) says: “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at
all.” If we the youth stand firm with the words of God and use His words to live,
we could save the poor lives of the next generation. Jesus told His disciple,
Moises, to spread the good news and now we are the next Moises of God. A
disciple who is ready to serve God with all his heart and soul and no matter what
temptations will come, we will STAND FIRM IN OUR FAITH TO GOD.
I thought RYD is just an ordinary seminar which I used to attend but it is definitely
different. In RYD I have met a lot of new friends from different places, with different
culture, but united by God. We had less listening sessions and we never get bored
because there were so many activities that were so enjoyable and we had gained
more knowledge. One of my most memorable activity is the Easter Walk. It was like
having a tour around the Municipality of Banga, Aklan and in every station, we had
time for reflections. We were being reminded of how powerful yet humble our God is.
We also experienced a different kind of a Prayer Encounter where we had a great fun
and really felt that we were showered by the love of God.
I never thought that I will experience living for e few days with a different family, who
were total strangers to me. But during the RYD, I am so grateful I had the chance to
experience being fostered by a family with a different culture yet I am loved as their
own daughter and sister. I really enjoyed staying with them and I had learned a lot from
them including my first time to eat “pansit” (Thanks to Tita Diane and the one who
prepared the delicious chinese cuisine that I had not resisted it.) So funny but it is real.
During our fellowship activity, I was so amazed with the singing Priests who sang love
songs for us (just like in the Archdiocesan Youth Day in Jaro, where some Priests also
sang rock songs). If only they are not priests, anyone would really fall for them (hehe..).
The fellowship ended, filled with love and enthusiast, as we experienced the SADSAD
and the ultimate snake dance in honor of Señor Sto. Niño. Viva!

“DO ALL YOUR WORKS IN LOVE”
“We are in this world, to give everything we own, for the service of God, to challenge our
humanity. Stand firm in faith. We, the youth of the world can stand in doing the things. Let
His will, will be done to us. With the greatest love, that He shares to everyone. We can
stand.”
Pila lang ini sa mga linya nga mabatian sa kanta nga “Stand firm in faith,” ang official
theme song sang RYD 2011 nga ginhiwat sa Kalibo, Aklan sang April 26-29. Ini may
tema nga: “Stand Firm in Faith.. Do all your works in love!” kag ginbuylogan sang
nagakalain-lain nga mga Diocese sang Western Visayas kag Romblon.
Antes kami maglakat, may ginhiwat nga pre-orientation sa St. Joseph Seminary upod
sang mga pamatan-on halin sa iban nga mga parokya sa Archdiocese of Jaro. May mga
activities nga ginhimo agod makilala pa gid namon ang amon mga kaupdanan, pareho
sang Easter Egg Hunt, Basketball (for girls), Patintero (for boys) kag fellowship.
Sa una nga adlaw namon sa Kalibo, Aklan nga may subtheme nga Journey of Faith,
amon nakilala ang amon nga Host Family kag ang amon mga kaupdanan sa ina nga
pamilya. Sa ika-duwa nga adlaw (Building Faith), pagkatapos namon mag-morning praise
upod sang amon Host Family, nag Easter Walk kami kun sa diin, nakapamalandong
kami sa mga pagtuon kag kabuhi ni Kristo. Naghiwat man sang Santos nga Misa, kag
pagkatapos sang panyaga, gin hatagan kami sang tini-on agod makaupod namon ang
amon Host family. Pagkatapos namon mag-family bonding,ang tanan nagtipon sa
atubangan sang Kalibo Cathedral para sa Prayer Encounter. Sa ikatlo nga adlaw (Standing
Firmly in Faith), nagtipon ang tanan nga mga youth sang nagkalain-lain nga mga Dio-
cese sa ABL Sports Complex. Didto naghiwat sang Plenary Talk si Bishop Pablo “Ambo”
David, nahanungod sa tema. Nag-group sharing kag naghiwat sang Santos nga Misa.
Nagsadsad kami palibot sang Cathedral kag nag-fellowship. Sa ika-apat nga adlaw (Do
all your works in love), naghiwat kami sang amon Culminating Activities kag Santos nga
Misa para sa ulihi namon nga adlaw sa Kalibo. Amo na ini ang end sang amon
pagpanglakaton sa sulod sang apat ka adlaw namon sa Aklan, apang nahibaluan namon
nga indi ini diri natapos ang pangpanglakaton namon bilang mga pamatan-on nga naga-
serbi sa Gino-o.
Pareho sang mga linya nga mabatian sa kanta, kita nga mga pamatan-on, may dako
man nga mapa-ambit para sa aton simbahan. Ang aton presensya kag pagserbisyo sa
Gino-o, sa tunga sang mga “challenges” sa aton kabuhi, paagi sa mga bagay nga wala
naton mahibal-an nga makadala sa aton paidalum. Apang kung kita may mabaskog nga
pagsalig kag nagapanindugan sa aton pagtuo sa Diyos,WE CAN BE SAVED!
