ALL KINDS OF OPERATIONS ADDITION TO ROTTERDAM SERVICE PORT
A wide variety of activities can be carried out at
the facility:
• Maintenance, repairs and conversions of offshore
units and equipment
• Removal or replacement of thrusters
• Loading and unloading heavy cargo (such as
platforms) onto and from semi-submersible vessels
• Underwater inspections
• Testing cranes and hoisting equipment.
An important additional advantage is the possibility to
combine use of the new offshore facility with activities
at Rotterdam shipyards in the near vicinity. The offshore
facility can also be used for ship-to-ship transfers and
as lay-by berth.

The aim of the Port of Rotterdam Authority is to
enhance the port of Rotterdam’s competitive
position as a logistics hub and world-class indus-
trial complex. Not only in terms of size, but also
quality. The core tasks of the Port Authority are to
develop, manage and run the port in a sustainable
way and to maintain a speedy and safe service
for shipping.

the services provided by Rotterdam as a Service Port.

The offshore facility Calandkanaal is a multi-user facility.
The offshore facility will be operational from the 2nd half
of 2010 onwards and can be reserved via the Port of
Rotterdam Authority. Tariffs are available on request.

The new offshore facility is situated in the almost 23 metres deep Calandkanaal,
which is part of the port’s Europoort area. There is excellent access to this location
from the North Sea, Rotterdam has no locks.

WELL-SHELTERED LOCATION
The offshore facility in the Calandkanaal provides
a berth for offshore units measuring a maximum
100 x 385 metres. Vessels and platforms can be
moored safely, thanks to the fender and mooring
dolphins. The well-sheltered location ensures that
work can also continue under less favourable weather
conditions in a risk-free, environment-friendly and
safe manner. Furthermore, the Calandkanaal has
clear water, ideal for underwater operations
and inspections.
