Avid Workflow Guide

1. Creating a New Folder

a. Create a New Folder on Local Drive and named it same as your project.
(e.g.: Project 1)

2. Exporting Audio and Video from Avid using Send To Templates.

a. Start Avid Editing.

b. Select a sequence in a bin.


c. Right Click the sequence.
d. Click Sent to > Digidesign Pro Tools > link to audio + QT mov.
e. The Dialog opens.
f. Type Filename (e.g.: ishakNCXP2.copy.01).
g. Click Set to Browse the Destination. Browse to the folder that you created before.
(e.g.: Project 1)
h. Thick Export Setting 1 and click Options to setup Video format.
i. The Dialog opens.
j. Click Format Options. The dialog open.

k. Under Video click Settings.The dialog open.

Set up the dialog.


i. Under Motion, set Frame Rate to '25'.
ii. Under Compressor, set Quality to 'Least'.

l. Click 'OK' for all dialogs. Click 'Save' for Export Setting Dialog.
m. Tick Export Setting 2 and click Options to setup Audio format. The dialog open.

Export As : AAF
Thick (/) : Include All Video Tracks In Sequence
Thick (/) : Include All Audio Tracks In Sequence

Set up the dialog.


Export As: AAF
Tick (/): Include All Audio Tracks in sequence
Export Method: Copy Media and Link to Copied Media.

n. Click Set to Browse the Destination. Browse to the folder that you created before.
(eg: Project 1)
o. Click 'OK' for all dialogs. Click 'Save' for Export Setting Dialog.
p. Quit from Avid NLE application.

2. Transfer the Export files to server

a. Double click Editshare Gateway icon on desktop.

b. Wait until “Press any key to continue ...”. Then, press any key.
c. The system now connected to Editshare server.

d. Open My Computer and double click 'Cauworkspaces_1 on “es-master” (Z)'.

e. Browse the folder and choose which Sound Dub Room you want to use(sd1 to sd6). For
example want to use Sound Dub Room 2 (sd2). Then, double click sd2 folder and browse to
“For Dubbing” folder.

f. Copy and paste 'Project 1' folder to the server.


(Directory to paste Z:\sd1\For Dubbing)

g. Close all folders.


h. On Desktop, double click 'Avid Gateway' icon.
i. Wait until “Press any key to continue ...” Then, press any key.

The server now connected to Avid Unity server.

3. Importing Audio and Video into Pro Tools.

a. On Pro Tools, change IP address to communicate with Editshare Server

Ip Address: 192.168.2. 41-49


Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

b. Locate the location for the consolidated file. (e.g.: file already save on sd1)
c. Browse shared folder, go to 'es-master' folder and browse to sd1 folder
d. Click 'Project 1' Folder and copy the both aaf and OMFI files into SD1 Audio Drive.
e. Wait until transferring complete.
f. From SD1 Audio Drive double click aaf file. (e.g.: ishakNCXP2.copy.01.aaf).
g. The Import Session Data Dialog open.

h. In the Import Session Data dialog, do the following:

• Click on the Audio Media Options pop-up menu and select “Link to Source Media
(Where Possible).”

• Click on the Video Media Options pop-up menu and select Link to source media.

i. Click OK.
