to find the right opportunity to make a lasting difference.

Director of Business
November 2001 - January 2007
Glad Tidings World Outreach Center | Omaha, NE
Nonprofit Charitable Organization with local headquarters and
international operations
Responsible for all non-ministerial operations of the organization.
This position included all of my current duties (listed above) as well as
the financial management of the organization.
As the Director of Business all financial reporting, tracking, planning,
budgeting and control was my direct responsibility. I managed the
receipt of funds in excess of $3,000,000.00 annually, the development
of budgets in excess of $2,000,000.00 annually, the investment of 400k
annually, and the expenditures required for the operation.
I had a financial team to process AP/AR and Personnel as well as a CPA
on retainer for certification, oversight and financial operations reporting.
I led a team to organize, plan and execute a successful Capital
Campaign to raise funds for facilities expansion and improvements.
From the beginning my goal was to establish business procedures and
financial accountability structures in order to provide a strong
foundation for future growth and continuity. The first phase of my
objective being met, we identified and hired a very qualified candidate
to assume the CFO position for the organization early in 2007. At that
time my title changed to Director of operations.
Advertising Operations Manager
April 2000 - November 2001
Omaha World Herald | Omaha, NE
Newspaper Printing and Publishing
The department handled all advertising materials and prepared files for
digital production, created original artwork for retail advertising and
provided creative technical support.
I was directly responsible for the management of this group. All
creative services, receipt and preparation of customer provided files,
pre-flight and repair of all digital content, scanning, typesetting,
composition, layout, proofing, pre-press integration was all part of
this group. I worked closely with the retail sales, providing graphic
design and ad creation through my artists. In this environment I
served as a creative director as well as providing client support with
retail sales development. I worked with the directors or managers of
the various sales groups, news groups, photography and editorial news.
I reported directly to the Director of Advertising. Part of my purpose
in being hired at the paper was to be a member of the "Freedom
Transition Team". During my employ, the newspaper moved from
traditional letterpress production to color web offset. The Herald built
a new facility (The Freedom Center) with the latest technology in
pre-press, press production, and packaging. I was deeply involved
with the conversion process. My involvement ranged from training
of personnel in color production, to helping develop color standards,
helping to develop and integrate new page size, typography standards
and solutions, development of new advertising spaces and ad offerings
to generate additional revenues. I was able to offer a great deal of
consulting in the whole transition to digital color production due to
my previous years of work experience in the Commercial and Business
printing industry.

Production and Creative Services Manager

September 1986 - April 2000
Standard Printing Companies of Omaha | Omaha, NE
Commercial Printing and Publishing
Responsible for sales support, creative services, pre-press and
production operations
Standard Printing was a very successful business printer producing
business forms that included a patented super bill form used in the
medical industry. Because of changing markets, the decision was made
to begin the move toward the "Commercial Printing" market. The
owners recognized the first change would have to be developing an
in-house creative services department. I was hired to lead this process.
I was responsible to develop standards, processes and procedures to
train or recruit staff for this department. It was also necessary to
provide support to the sales staff as they began to learn and sell this
new line of business. At the same time I was responsible to keep the
existing lines of business in production. Maintaining the high standards
of excellence, which had always been the hallmark of this company.
This was certainly one of the best opportunities to gain practical
business management knowledge and skill. By 1996 we were firmly
established as a respected Commercial Printer as well as continuing
in our Business lines. We had developed an entire digital content
/print on demand business line and developed a reputation as a
"printer to printers". By late1999 we had reached our goals and I had
reached my potential with this company, so when the opportunity to
move to the Omaha World Herald was offered to me, I was able to
advance with the kind encouragement of the owners of Standard
Printing Company.
